Conax Technologies' thermocouples for this application meet the operational and performance requirements per the OEM specifications as replacements on heavy duty gas turbines. These cost effective thermocouples are designed to be hermetically sealed to provide a more reliable product that eliminates IR failures. The positive stop at the tip of the thermocouple eliminates any fretting problems. Conax's wheelspace, disc cavity and C.D.T. thermocouples are manufactured using a stainless steel sheath, MgO insulation with type K conductors to ensure the robust design needed in this application.
All specifications qualified thermocouples are manufactured from ASTM E585 thermocouple material utilizing the highest purity insulation materials yielding superior insulation resistance at elevated temperatures. The thermocouples are manufactured and tested at various points during the manufacturing cycle, ensuring the highest possible level of quality.
Production testing includes helium leak testing, calibration, thermal shock, insulation resistance and hermeticity testing of sealing points. Conax Technologies also manufactures these type thermocouples using other configurations. Simply supply the drawing number you have and utilize our short cycle turn around time.

Retrofit Exhaust Gas Sensors for older frame 5, 6, 7 & 9.
If you have an older GE Frame turbine we are offering improved replacement exhaust gas thermocouple sensors that fit older radiation shields with base GE P/N's 351A3711, 238A7864, 219B6376, or 205B3060. This upgrade kit provides a longer lasting sensor that also features lower maintenance time at change out. There is no need to replace the existing radiation shields when using this upgraded exhaust gas sensor.

Cable assemblies that are purchased with this sensor may be manufactured to the customer desired length. Cables remain fixed in the Turbine hot box and only the sensor needs to be removed. Cable assemblies are made from 18 Awg stranded conductors with PFA insulation and are jacketed with Stainless Steel overbraid.

In addition to long-term stability, interchangeability and accuracy, elementary sensors are additionally characterized by small size footprints of only a few square millimeters. The temperature application range, however, is extremely high: from -196° Celsius to +1000° Celsius!
To increase the ease of use in mass production applications, Heraeus Sensor Technology has enhanced the capabilities of elementary sensors. DBS sensors, for example, are equipped with rectangular connecting wires that offer superior directional stability when compared to round wires. The DBS sensors, which are available in several different standard wire lengths, can eliminate the need for expensive extension leads.
Ideas developed by Heraeus Sensor Technology have simplified the need for further processing of SMD sensors. The FC-type SMD sensor, for example, which have no edge-metallization, can be die-bonded on PCBs instead of soldered, saving time and costs for automated manufacturing processes.
