Hoffer inline turbine flowmeters are
velocity measuring devices, which is
to say they measure the average
velocity of a fluid flowing through
the body of the meter. See
Illustration 1 for details on the
construction of the Hoffer inline
turbine flowmeter. Mounted within
the body of a Hoffer liquid turbine
flowmeter is a vaned rotor.

Turbine flow meters are mediate volume transmitters similar to a Woltmann's sailwheel meter. Thanks to extremely rapid response times and high resolution turbine flow meters are perfectly suitable for fast filling systems.
Due to an enormous pressure and temperature resistance turbine flow meters will also be the perfect choice for water torch systems, temperature control units, cooling circuits or painting systems, where the consumption of solvents and di-water needs to be measured.

VOLUTRONIC® - that means high-dynamic, precise volume and flow measurements, evaluated according to the application - from a simple display unit to an intelligent micro-controller solution.
The basis for all this is the KRACHT gear type flow meter. This flow measure product presents the successful result of our long-experienced engineers. The sophisticated tooth system geometry in connection with application-specific bearings are made for the gear type flow meter being an absolute "All-rounder". The gear type flow meter covers a wide medium range: to go from hydraulic oil to printing ink, from gear grease to water based lacquer. The highly-efficient KRACHT electronics take the signals given by the gear type flow meter and ensures that processes are exactly monitored, regulated and controlled.
For example, in process technology as micro-controller for metering and mixing systems, or as flexible measuring and recording electronics for differentiated applications in test bench technology. KRACHT know-how guarantees functional solutions - standardized and optimized for application.

...disturbance insensitive and long-lived!
The turbine flow sensors of the product line Turbotron are sensors for flow rate measurement or dosing applications for liquids. Through its especially compact type, its very wide measuring range and its convincing precision of measurement, it has an almost unlimited application.
Function
The liquid flowing into the Turbotron is divided by the guiding blades in four split beams. These hit the rotor from four directions and put it in motion. The uniform loading of bearing from four sides causes the forces to cancel themselves out for the most part and wear is reduced to a minimum.
The extremely hard bearing materials, sapphire and hard metal, ensure in addition an extraordinary life expectancy.
The rotor rotation rate is now converted into an electrical pulse signal (frequency):
VTH and VTP are equipped with rotors which are fitted with magnets. A Hall effect sensor recognizes the rotation of the rotor.
VTI has stainless steel pins in the rotor. An inductive proximity switch detects the rotor rotation.
In both cases, a flow-proportional frequency signal (square wave signal) is available.

The Litre Meter pelton wheel flowmeter was first patented in 1975 and has an established reputation for function and reliability. Flows from 0.004 l/min can be metered up to 28 l/min using our LM series range. Large flowmeters are provided utilising the orifice/bypass principle where a wide flow range is given and the ability to measure low flows is retained. Pelton Wheel flowmeters are suitable for low viscosity clean fluids with variants in all- PFA Teflon for maximum chemical resistance and high pressure types to 2000 bar at the other end of the spectrum.

SIKA’s VTR turbine flow sensor allows you to determine precisely, dependably and easily the flow rates of different liquids, such as water and other low viscosity liquids, undert he most severe conditions. The VTR sensor is particularly robust and, due to the wide range of nominal diameters and five different pick-ups, can cope with even the most severe conditions.
How it works
The VTR sensor consists of the measuring turbine and a pick-up mounted on the outside. The liquid flows into the measuring turbine and causes the rotor to move. Due to the characteristic internal diameter the speed of rotation is directly proportional to the flow rate. The moving rotor blades are detected by the pick-up and this is converted into a pulsed signal proportional to the flow rate. The characteristic variable is the K-factor (pulses per litre) which is specific to each measuring unit, is determined by calibration and specified on the name plate. A five point calibration report can be supplied on request.
