Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a very common phenomenon. Yet, if the resulting arc current or electromagnetic wave were to flow through the circuits of an electrical or electronic device, the result could be a malfunctioning or even a breakdown. The IEC and other standardization bodies have been investigating ways of preventing this problem for many years, producing a Series of standards addressing methods and rules related to electrostatic discharge immunity testing. Recent years have seen an increased need for a means of performing discharge tests not only on domestic appliances, but also on automotive equipment. The KES4021 simulator allows you to perform immunity tests on an electrical or electronic device by simulating a direct or indirect electrostatic discharge from a charged human operator.

Electromagnetic Inteference (EMI) causes equipment malfunction in many applications. EMI is an increasingly persistant problem anywhere sensitive electronics equipment is used.
Typical issues associated with EMI are equipment lock-ups, random equipment malfunction, data corruption, software and parametric errors along with many others.

The electric charges accumulated on the surface of materials generate disturbances in the manufacturing processes. Static electricity is, indeed, the cause of multiple parasitic phenomena which can reduce the production paces or degrade the quality of the end product. It is important to be able to quantify these loads with all the stages of manufacture. The electrostatic field intensity measuring device ELCOWA standard MCE 20 allows a measurement without contact with your product. This measuring instrument is essential for the control of the good performance of your anti-static installation.

SF 156 Static Meter
Analysis of static problems are very hard without measurement of static charge. A decent static meter supplies the possibility of analysis of the problem to the technician. Static meter displays where and how the static current is generated and its polarization and amplitude.
If a static charge preventer is needed in the problem, static meter determines the best position for static charge preventer and displays its performance. Static meter develops standards for technician for avoiding future problems. These standards varies from the current level of regions which are ordered from produced or sent to user.

The EN6100-3-2 standard deals with the limitation of harmonic currents injected into the public mains supply system. Meanwhile, the EN6100-3-3 standard addresses the limitation of voltage fluctuations and flicker in low-voltage supply systems for equipment with a rated current of over 16A. These two standards, which became a mandatory requirement in Europe in 2001, apply to electrical and electronic equipment that have an input current up to and including 16A per phase and that are intended to be connected to public low-voltage distribution systems, such as supply voltages nominally 230V AC or 415V AC 3 phase.

KHA1000 is a harmonic and flicker analyzer compliant with the latest versions of the relevant IEC/EN and JIS standards (as of January 2006) that is intended for testing single-phase, two-line equipment. Using this device alone, you can perform a series of processes involved in a compliance test - from setting test conditions and running the test to monitoring the test status in real time, judging test results against limit values, and outputting result reports - through simple operations without the use of any dedicated software. Also, a test system can be set up with ease by combining KHA1000 with an AC power supply (PCR-LA Series) and a line impedance network (LIN40MA-PCR-L).

Simply the best HARMONIC and FLICKER test system available today. HAR1000 does not require expensive and bulky AC sources, it uses a novel technique to provide active compensation of distortion on the national power mains.
Featuring dual analysers, the input and output signal are constantly monitored to ensure compliance. HAR1000 conforms to the latest standards but also allows testing to previous standard editions should that be required.
HAR1000 can be enhanced with the following accessories.
HAR-EXT1000, three phase system. Adds two further phases to the HAR1000. Simple connection without any hardware modifications mean this powerful extension can be added at any time to an existing single phase system.
HARCS Immunity software package can be added to both the single and three phase systems. It extends the system’s emission capability to include harmonic immunity according to IEC61000-4-13, voltage fluctuations according to IEC61000-4-14 and ripple on DC according to IEC61000-4-17.
Adding the EMC Partner PS3 programmable power source, allows testing to IEC61000-4-28 for frequency fluctuations.

The Narda Broadband Field Meter NBM-550 has been designed to measure electromagnetic field strengths in the vicinity of transmitters and industrial equipment, and to evaluate and record the results in the context of human safety standards. Particular attention has been paid to ease of use. The instrument can be operated with one hand by anyone – left-handed or right-handed. The probes are isotropic, i.e. equally sensitive in all directions, so users do not need to worry about the direction the radiation is coming from.
The result data memory holds up to 5000 results along with date and time information. A GPS receiver (option) plugged into the basic unit and connected via USB gives the NBM the capability to store position data for each measurement. Instead of handwritten notes, voice comments can also be recorded. All the data can be uploaded to a PC and managed using the PC software supplied with the instrument. Measurement reports are therefore very easy to generate.
The basic unit and the probes are separately calibrated at the factory. The probe calibration data are stored in an EPROM in the probe itself. The NMB basic unit retrieves this automatically via the intelligent probe interface, and takes it into account in the results.

The ITU T-K44 recommendation describes a series of surge impulses for telecom applications. Besides the ITU requirements, similar impulses are specified in the FCC part 68 standard for telecom terminal equipment.
ITU tests are divided into Basic and Enhanced levels. Basic level tests are disturbance tests where the Equipment Under Test(EUT) should recover from the impulse disturbance. Enhanced level tests cause destruction of the EUT. The purpose of these tests is to ensure the equipment does not become a fire or fragmentation hazard. 10/700us impulses are applied to telecom lines at up to 6kV for enhanced level. 8/20us current impulses test protection devices mounted in telecom interfaces and the Combination Wave Generator(CWG) is used on power interfaces.
EMC PARTNER offer a range of test equipment to meet these requirements.
