Honeywell linear and rotary potentiometers measure linear, rotary position or displacement. Use a tried and true potentiometric technology originally developed for military applications and more recently applied to industrial markets. The proprietary MystR® conductive plastic has extensive temperature range, infinite resolution and provides absolute position measurement on power-up. Intermediate signal conditioning is not required for normal ratiometric position sensing. Very small stroke units (5 mm [0.2 in]), and units required to withstand exposure to harsh chemicals, function immersed in different oils or water, are available.
Best Used For:
Applications requiring sensing response to the movement or location of a target, such as a molding professional press slide or a pulley industrial shaft.

Displacement sensors have a plunger which moves freely in the sensor housing. The plunger is joined to the object by a thread to transfer the movement of the measurement object. The measurement process in the sensor takes place without contact and is therefore wear-free. The displacement sensors are mainly used to measure and monitor movements, displacements, positions, strokes, deflections, dislocations, etc. in vehicles, machines and systems.

The LM10 features a compact sealed readhead that rides at up to 1.5 mm from the self-adhesive magnetic strip scale, with up to 100 m travel.
Simple to install, the LM10 features an integral set-up LED on the readhead, wide installation tolerances and an applicator tool for the adhesive-backed magnetic scale. A bidirectional reference is provided that can be actuated either by a preset mark integrated within the scale or by adding a reference sticker on top of the scale with the help of a self aligning installation tool.
The professional encoders come in digital or analogue output variants and offer a range of customer selectable resolutions 1 µm, 2 µm, 5 µm, 10 µm, 20 µm and 50 µm. At 1 µm the LM10 offers a maximum velocity of 4 m/s.
Engineered for extreme service, the solid-state LM10 linear encoders operate from -20 °C to +85 °C, have water-proof sealing to IP68, and are highly resistant to shock, vibrations and pressure. The robust magnetic scale is also resistant to a range of chemicals commonly found in industry. The non-contact, frictionless design eliminates wear while reducing hysteresis for high precision at high speeds and acceleration.
LM10 encoders bring reliable solutions to tough, hard-working applications including woodworking, stone-cutting, sawing, metalworking, textiles, packaging, plastics processing, automation and assembly systems, water-jet cutting, and electronic chip/board production. |
