VITO temperature measurement systems for gauging temperature and volume
Anybody that wishes to determine the quantity of product present in bulk storage tanks manufacturers has to take the product temperature into account. After all, temperature is a determining factor for the volume and hence the density of a product. ENRAF offers a comprehensive line of products for accurate temperature measurement. That line ranges from single spot industrial temperature probes to the advanced VITO 16 element multiple thermosensor professional thermometer (MTT) for temperature and volume measurement.
Virtually the entire range is equipped with ENRAF’s well-known VITO interface, which guarantees faultless communication with level gauging systems based on radar or servo technology. The gauging systems can easily be provided with an additional functionality for water bottom measurement. In that way the number of instruments and components in and on the professional tank is kept to a minimum.
Temperature gauging systems by ENRAF stand out by their reliability and robust design. That assures you not only of high measurement accuracy but also of minimal maintenance cost. Add to that their flexibility and simplicity of installation and you will understand just why so many companies benefit from ENRAF temperature gauges. |

The Omnigrad range of Temperature Products from Endress Hauser meets the high standards required by the process industry.
Omnigrad provides Endress Hauser quality in design, documentation, logistics and service in Manufacturer of temperature sensors.
A Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) is a temperature responsive device based on a predictable resistance change in the sensing element.
The EN 60751 standard specifies requirements for industrial Platinum resistance sensors and covers the Pt 100 professional thermometers.
The Pt 100 sensing element has a resistance of 100 Ohms at 0°C.
According to EN standard and most common industrial applications, the Pt 100 type sensors are used for temperature metering and control in the range from -50°C to 400°C or -200°C to 600°C.
RTDs offer three main advantages:
high accuracy
excellent long-term stability
high signal output level which allows transmission over long distances without ancillary equipment.
Basic construction of Platinum resistance elements cannot be used directly in contact with process environments, hence the complete thermometers are built as assemblies which can withstand light, medium and heavy duty industrial conditions.
In general, the sensor assembly includes three components:
the resistance thermometer inset
the protecting tube (thermowell)
the terminal housing.

Libratherm offers Miniature Head Mount Two wire Manufacturer of temperature transmitter Model LTX-3000/H, which accepts (Pt-100) or thermocouple or variable resistance signal as the input and provides output of (4-20) mA proportional to mV or resistance values. These professional transmitters are extensively used to minimize the effect of electrical noise and to eliminate the need of long runs of special compensating and three wire cables since ordinary pair of copper wires can easily be used to transmit the measured temperature without the drop or loss of signal. In addition, transmitting the current signal is more advantageous, since it is less susceptible to industrial RFI/EMI noise compared to the voltage signal. These transmitters are linearly calibrated to the signal produced by a thermocouple or RTD sensors. LTX-3000/H can also be used with the manufacturers of level sensors, giving resistance change proportional to the level - to make the level transmitters.
LTX-3000 requires no separate power feeder as it is powered by current drawn from the current loop itself and is thus intrinsically safe when used with appropriate barriers. It is very compact, economically priced and can be directly mounted inside standard heads of the thermocouple or RTD sensors. It can also be easily fitted inside the flame proof / weatherproof head or junction box. It is available for different supplier of thermocouples, RTD (Pt-100) duly calibrated for required temperature range with ZERO and SPAN adjustments for on site calibration. Long distance accuracy Temptran™ professional transmitters amplify the low-level signals from RTD's or thermocouples to an industry standard 4 to 20 mA current signal proportional to temperature. Unlike resistance or voltage, current signals are immune to resistance in extension wires and stray electrical noise. This lets you receive accurate signals from a sensor located thousands of feet away. The 4 to 20 mA output signal and DC power share the same wire pair. You don't need to run power wires to every sensor location. RTD transmitters also linearize the signal to temperature, making them excellent low cost industrial signal conditioners.

Measurement Specialties offers high end manufacturer of temperature sensors through its recent acquisitions of BetaTHERM and YSI Temperature. Both companies specialize in negative temperature co-efficient (NTC) thermistors for precision temperature measurement in environments where there is a high cost of failure.
Thermistor-based temperature sensors exhibit a change in their electrical resistance in response to a change in ambient temperature conditions. They are highly-sensitive and have very reproducible resistance-versus-temperature properties. Thermistors can be further classified as either “Positive Temperature Co-efficient” (PTC thermistors) or “Negative Temperature Co-efficient” (NTC thermistors). Both PTC and NTC thermistors have distinct features and advantages that make them ideal for different end-use sensor applications. Whereas PTC thermistors demonstrate an increase in resistance when subjected to an increase in temperature, NTC thermistors demonstrate a decrease and are commonly used for more accurate temperature sensing. This accuracy makes them unique in their functionality in many applications compared to other temperature sensors/switches such as manufacturers of thermocouples or electromechanical industrial thermostats, which they are steadily replacing.
NTC thermistors are available in a wide variety of configurations and protective coatings to suit almost any application. The particular features and advantages of NTC thermistors compared to other sensor types include:
Large temperature sensitivity and broad range of function
Available in many physical forms and not constrained by material types
Interchangeable devices eliminate need for individual sensor calibrations
Good electrical noise immunity
Easy to interface to electronic instrumentation
Can be customized to optimize thermal response requirements
NTC thermistors are the most versatile and cost-effective temperature sensors in terms of satisfying typical selection criteria and in their inherent advantages over other sensor types.

Thermistors tend to be more accurate than RTD's and suppliers of thermocouples, but they have a much more limited temperature range because of their marked non-linearity.
A Thermistor capitalizes on the fact that the electrical resistance of a material changes as its temperature changes. Thermistors rely on the resistance change in a ceramic semiconductor, with the resistance dropping non-linearly with a temperature rise.
Thermistors can be a low cost solution to temperature measuring. They tend to have large signal outputs and their small size permits fast response to temperature changes. UE Thermistors are used to measure temperatures from -45° to 260° C (-50° to 500° F)
