ALTERNATIVE CURRENT SOURCES
INTRODUCTION
The EFS 8326 and EFS 8327 power supplies
are current sources delivering a sinusoidal out-
put isolated from the network at a frequency
of 50Hz or 60Hz, adjustable either from 0 to
170 A (EFS 8326), or from 0 to 1300 A (EFS
8327).
Each power supply is adjustable within 5 ran-
ges:
EFS 8326 : 0.8 A / 2.5 A/18 A/60 A/170 A
EFS 8327 : 40 A/125 A/250 A/650 A/1300 A
MAIN FUNCTIONS
. displays precise measurements of the current
and the output voltage.
. carries out complete test cycles
(beats, ramps, time slots...) with a resolution
of 1/2 a period (duration of the control system loop).
. user protection provided by numerous safety features (insulation, emergency stops) but also
power supply protection (overloads).
. operated manually (keyboard and digital potentiometer on the front panel) or by an external
system:
- either via isolated On-Off inputs and outputs and an analog input
- or by a MODBUS link.
APPLICATIONS
Used for testing devices with thermal,
magnetothermal and magnetic
triggering systems such as relays, circuit
breakers or bimetallic strip
thermometers.
USE
The EFS 8326 or EFS 8327 power supplies are
each housed in a cabinet (800x1200x1600).
The control panel, situated on the front door,
is equipped with an emergency punch-stop
button enabling activation of the isolation
command.
The operator is equipped with a keyboard used
for choosing the functioning mode (local,
external, bus) and the range as well as for
frequency and cycle management.
A potentiometer allows parameter adjustment.
3 displays provide the user with essential
information: «duration or ½ period», «current»
and «output voltage». |

The GX1838 provides 8 output channels and three Voltage Rails. Each of the 8 output channels can be connected to one of the three voltage rails or set as Open. Voltage Rails A through C are used as voltage sources for the High and Low state. Additionally, the GX1838 offers a programmable DC electronic load capable of loading up to 500mA. The GX1838 occupies a single 3U PXI slot.
The GX7400 is a dual output programmable DC power supply designed for use in PXI systems. The GX7400 occupies three 6U slots and is controlled via the PXI bus. The AC power is provided using a panel mounted receptacle. The power supplies are fully isolated and can be externally connected in series to provide higher voltage. Each of the dual outputs can accommodate a programmable or a fixed power supply module.
The GT7404 is a low cost method of providing controlled power to interface and test target circuitry. The GT7404 permits +5V, +12V, -5V, and -12V power outputs present on the GTXI motherboard to be switched through a DB25 connector for use by the unit under test and interface circuitry.

CSU600A and CSU600AT supply units have two main fields of application. The first is to conduct primary tests on protective relays. A primary test shows whether all parts of the protection system are functioning together properly within the specified time limits under operating conditions.
The second field of application involves conducting current tests on low-voltage circuit breakers and overcurrent devices. |

DC – UPS Systems for Safety Relevant Installations
With their modular construction, the latest DC – UPS systems in the GTLB/GTPB series from Zentro Elektrik expand the existing comprehensive range of DC – UPS systems for supplying power to safety relevant installations.
The AC/DC systems in standby parallel mode are designed for outputs
from 250 Watt up to 600 Watt and fitted with batteries at the customer’s request. Additional DC/DC converters can be added to the system if more output voltages are required.
A battery control and monitoring module allows to control the charging current and temperature control of the charge closing voltage.
Over and above this, numerous monitoring and control signals are provided via relays, LED’s or potentiometers. A signal relay, for example,
if the charging voltage fails, to switch off the battery on it reaching the closing discharge voltage, to give advance warning of reaching closing discharge voltage with an additional adjustable threshold or individual limitation of the battery charging current to prolong battery life, and
many more. LED displays and adjustable potentiometers provide for comprehensive signalling and the ability to adjust the maximum charging voltage or the defined point of battery switch-off. |

They may be unglamorous and unobtrusive, but without them it would not be possible to operate an electronic system. Power supplies are essential. They provide the voltage supply for sensors, actuators, controllers and other electrical loads. ifm offers low-cost transformer power supplies but also powerful switched-mode power supplies for different applications.
Transformer power supplies
Transformer power supplies provide a low voltage, normally 24 V DC to supply PLCs, sensors or evaluation electronics. A transformer according to DIN 0551 ensures a safe electrical separation from mains voltage and low voltage. The output voltage can be regulated (± 5%) or smoothed by means of capacitors. The different designs and output powers allow adaptation to diverse operating conditions.
Switched-mode power supplies
Primary switched-mode power supplies are a compact and economical solution to supply sensors, actuators and sensitive electronic components and are gaining more and more acceptance. As opposed to conventional transformer power supplies with regulated output voltage primary switched-mode power supplies need no heavy transformers so that there are fewer iron and copper losses. They are therefore distinguished by a very high degree of efficiency of up to 92 %. |

The iX Series II represents a new generation of AC and DC power source that addresses increasing demands on test equipment to perform more functions at a lower cost. By combining a flexible AC/DC power source with a high performance power analyzer, the iX Series II systems are capable of handling complex applications that have traditionally required multiple instruments.
The sleek integrated approach of the iX Series II avoids the cable clutter that is commonly found in AC test systems. The i/iX Series II is rackmountable with a 4U chassis design. All connections are made internally and the need for external digital multimeters, power harmonics analyzer and current shunts or clamps is completely eliminated. Using a state of the art digital signal processor in conjunction with precision high resolution A/D converters, the iX Series II provides more accuracy and resolution than can be found in some dedicated harmonic power analyzers. Since many components in the iX Series II are shared between the AC/DC source and the power analyzer, the total cost of the integrated system is less than the typical cost of a multiple unit system.
For less demanding applications, the Compact iX Series provides similar output and transient capabilities as the iX Series II, as well as basic measurements. |

Characteristics
DC Power Supplies R&S NGSM are versatile supply and measuring units for testing electronic car components by simulating real operating conditions. In addition to a wide field of car electronics, it can be used in mobile radio, car hifi applications and mechanical engineering. Due to its compact design, the units take up only one half 19" width. A 19" adapter is available for mounting the R&S NGSM into test racks.
Application-specific characteristics
Car electronics
R&S NGSM is a precise and, thanks to its versatility, an extremely economical tool for use in the production of electronics. With the aid of an IEC/IEEE bus or RS-232-C interface (optional), the power supply can readily be integrated into in-line production systems. The startup curve in line with DIN40839 can be adapted to other factory standards by reprogramming it. High surge currents typically occur in applications such as central lock-ing or ABS, but with a pulse current of up to 30 A, R&S NGSM32/10 is ideally prepared for these applications.
Mobile radio systems
The high resolution for current measurements allows the maximum operating time of a mobile phone to be accurately predicted; typical voltage drops during the startup of a car - which have to be tolarated by telephones operated at a car net can be simulated.
DC Power Supply R&S NGSM is insensitive to the RF voltage conducted from a device under test or radiated from a nearby antenna. |
