In electronic devices, certain components may require one or more spring contacts to achieve reliable electrical connection.
Typical applications include:

Bellows spring contacts are used where the connection cannot or should not be permanent, particularly when the parts are to be inserted, removed and re-inserted. The two types of spring contacts best suited for these applications are gold-plated wire mesh cylinders and gold-plated miniature metal bellows.
Bellows Type Contacts:
Servometer bellows type contact springs are manufactured from electrodeposited nickel, and gold plated to enhance their conductivity. They are flexible and dynamic, and designed to provide a lifetime of reliable interconnection. Furthermore, they can help overcome tolerance buildup and thermal expansion problems in critical assemblies.
The following characteristics make bellows type contacts superior to wire mesh cylinders:
- Minimal of self inductance
- Extremely low DC resistance
- Minimal of insertion loss
- Lifetime spring repeatability
- Only small forces are required (as low as 0.04 oz per 0.001 in. of travel) for compression
- Seamless and non-porous
Operating Conditions:
- Life expectancy from 100 cycles to infinite.
- For greater life cycles, the maximum compression is reduced by 20% for 100,000 cycles and by 30% for infinite life.
- Servometer Contacts can be safely used up to 260°F and maintain their full spring qualities. There is no low temperature limit.
- Our entire stock line is rated for a maximum current of 4 amps. |

Servometer manufactures many specialty electroforms which normal electroplating companies cannot produce. Our electroforms can be made with unusual shapes, and close tolerances. They are lightweight with a rugged structural rigidity.
Servometer Electroforms forms are produced by electrodepositing a thin layer of nickel onto an aluminum mandrel of any shape, then chemically dissolving the aluminum, leaving behind a thin shell of tough nickel, which is the electroform. Servometer has perfected this electroplating process over the years while producing millions of metal bellows, using the same technique.
Some advantages of Servometer electroforms:
- Light-weight combined with high toughness
- Limitless geometries are possible, even with varying cross sections
- They are manufacturable with varying wall
thickness in a single part
- Electroforms can be made integral with our bellows, eliminating the need for welding or soldering
- Diameters as small as 0.020 in.
- Close internal tolerances
- Extreme temperatures as low as -423°F below zero
Servometer can supply electroforms, which range from 0.020 in. to 8 in. cross section. Even larger parts are possible, for certain geometries. Typically, Servometer electroforms are nickel, but copper and gold are also available as a complete part, with lamina or a surface finish. Mirror finishes and low reflectance coatings can be provided as required. |

| Filtered and ESD protected USB connectors are available in a variety of configurations and protection values. The current standard SCI product is a Type A style of socket connector. These are available in a through hole or surface mount termination design. The connectors have integrated chip capacitor filters or ESD suppressors, and are a drop-in replacement for standard unfiltered connectors. The connectors have capacitive filter values ranging from 10pF to 1000pF. ESD protection uses Little fuse components to offer ESD protection without added capacitance. These connectors will meet the latest USB 2.0 specifications. Custom filter values and configurations are also available. |

SLIP RING SYSTEM (ROTARY BOXES)
The rotating electrical slip ring is an electromechanical device that allows the transmission of electrical signals side to side in rotary conditions.
It is composed of a complete slip ring with brushes and armbrushes and its own cover that guarantees IP55 or IP65 (on the base of customers requirements). If required it is possible to combine with a fluidic swivel that could guaranty the passage of air, liquids or gas.

Bus Connectors for PROFIBUS 90° with diagnostic LEDs
The PROFIBUS diagnostic connector can be used to connect a PROFIBUS network in which the user can check the status of the bus system at any time at a glance.
The three built-in LEDs with the easily distinguished colours blue, green, and orange indicate the most important states of the PROFIBUS network at each station. The state of the terminating resistor (orange), whether bus activity is in progress (green), and whether the station addressed is participating in bus traffic (blue) are all indicated.
This means errors, such as bus interruptions, missing or incorrectly connected terminating resistors, and malfunctioning or failed bus stations can be detected immediately.
The PROFIBUS diagnostic connector with screw terminals can be supplied with or without a programming (PG) device connector.

ERNI offers three different versions of connector housing for Series TMC connectors ace. To DIN 41 652 and MIL C-24308.
KSG 200 Fully insulated housing with integrated shielding plates
KSG 185 Housing with snap-in latches and/or screw locking, integrated coding
KSG 183 Housing with snap-in latches
All three versions of housing are of two-shell design which allows the wring of the female or male connectors prior to housing assembly. All three housing versions can easily be disassembled.
With the KSG 185 (cable connector housing Series KSG 185) it is possible to lock the two shell halves with snap- in latches. There is also a screw for vibration-proof applications. The connector shell halves of Series KSG 183 are screwed together after wiring.
For applications with screw locking the KSG 185 offers locking parts for thread types M3 and #4/40 NC-2 A.

Functionality
Electrical slip rings are used everywhere where electrical currents are transmitted from a stationary machine part to a rotating shaft. The transfer of energy between the rotor and stator occurs by way of a slide contact, which is pressed against the rotating slip ring by a precision spring with constant pressure. It is important to select the optimal pair of materials for the contacts, in order to ensure reliable functioning and a long product life. In doing this, tribologic and electrical requirements are considered depending on the application. |
