Computer on Modules (COM) address the need for standardized small form factor computing platforms. COMs are the perfect solution for long-term applications where technology and performance upgrades are a must. COMs are without connectors for USB, LAN, VGA, etc. and must be attached to an I/O board to fullfil an application's I/O requirements. Upgrades are easily managed through an exchange of the existing Computer Module to one based on the latest technology, in effect extending the lifecycle of the application
bCOM2-L1000 is a COM Express basic, Type 2 COM Express module featuring choice of Intel® processor with a wide range of processor options to deliver performance-per-watt improvements and meet low-power, high performance embedded applications requirements. With a SODIMM socket, the 2 GB of DDR2 memory can to be adjusted, on demand. One Gigabit Ethernet port is routed to the COM Express connector. It also supports transmissions of 10 and 100 Mbit/s. Additionally eight USB 2.0 ports are routed to the COM Express connector. The bCOM2-L1000 has four serial ATA Interfaces with RAID 0 and 1 support as well as an IDE interface for mass storage devices. Choose from the attached parallel hard disk drives or the new serial ATA drives. The SATA interfaces are ready for SATA II drives. For superior graphic performance, the bCOM2-L1000 features an integrated analog CRT and LVDS interfaces. Cambridge Technologys EC1000 is the next generation in galvo-steered laser control systems. This compact, fully integrated dual system-on-a-chip (SoC) control system is ideal for deployment into modern factory environments with distributed automation. In this environment, a single host computer can supervise a factory of networked laser marking appliances. The EC1000 is designed to be completely embedded into a scanning head and does not require a nearby physical host computer for operation. Remote Access, Remote Control, and Remote Monitoring are fully supported for tetherless operation in a distributed laser marking environment. Factory reliability and EMI immunity are ensured through the use of optically isolated digital control ports.

The new SLC-8550-LVA is the 5-inch bay sized (203mm×145mm) CPU board and is a lead-free and RoHS-compliant product. This CPU board supports the Intel 855GME + ICH4 chipset and is compatible with 1.6G-2.0GHz (FSB400MHz) Intel Pentium M processor and 1.3G-1.5GHz (FSB400MHz) Intel Celeron M processor. The main memory complies with PC2700 DDR SDRAM (supports both ECC and non-ECC memory) and is able to contain up to 1 GB.
The SLC-8550-LVA provides the expansion capability including six 232C serial communication ports (two of them are pin header connector), six USB 2.0 ports, CF slot (enables boot-up), AC97 audio and PCI slot, making it ideal for complicated embedded applications. VM-1 Application Boards
In use, a VM-1 controller is normally plugged into another board. The VM-1 provides the CPU functions and the raw logic-level I/O signals; the 'application board' provides interfaces to the system to be controlled.
Often our customers will design their own VM-1 application boards, or have us do it for them. As these are mostly very simple circuits, the investment in design and production facilities is relatively low.
However it may not make sense for you to have your own custom application board if you are just prototyping a project, or have a small production run. That's why we've developed a range of Standard Application Boards for you.
