The machinging zero point is defined
by the centre of the chuck in the GPS 240 system. The chuck can be mounted on the machine table of any machine tool.
The standardised hole pattern allows clamping from below of workpieces, fixtures and accessories such as vices, three-jaw chucks and magnetic tables. This gives collision-free mounting, even with five-sided machining.
The economical, pressure-die-cast aluminium pallets are very light, making them especially suitable for manual handling. Naturally the GPS 240 is also suitable for automatic changing.
The chuck seal prevents dirt penetrating between the chuck and the pallet. This simplifies maintenance and lengthens the life of the components. A lifting mechanism which operates on locking/opening protects the references when loading heavy workpieces.
- Seal protects the reference surfaces from dirt
- High locking force
- Inexpensive, lightweight pallets
- A lifting mechanism protects the references when loading heavy workpieces
Facts
- Repetition accuracy: 0.002 mm
- Clamping force: 30000 N (with force boost, 80000 N)
- Indexing accuracy: 0.005 mm

TOOL AND MATERIAL CLAMPING SYSTEMS
Description of tool holders and tool carriers
Tool holders are mainly clamps and expandable dollies and also derivatives of clamps.
Tool-carrier ranges are manufactured to meet ISO and HSK standards as well as Schaublin’s standards which have often become the standards for the world. We also produce cylindrical tool-carriers, Morse tapers and specific adaptations of particular machines or applications.
Schaublin also develops, on request, special applications that require clamping abilities tailored to the customer’s requirements.
Operation and uses
Clamps are used to grip the material, parts in rotation and counter-rotation or tool shanks. These clamps are of pull or thrust type where the force on the taper closes the clamp onto the part to be gripped.
Clamps are generally steel, sometimes brass or with inserts of other materials.

DURO-key bar chucks and plane spiral chucks (DIN 6350 und DIN 6351) are successfully used wherever extremely high tension forces, high concentric accuracy and reliable continuous repeatability are needed. The three-jaw DURO key bar chuck is characterised by its very high tension force and accuracy, which is twice a high as prescribed in DIN 6386. The running and run-out accuracy of our three- and four-jawed plane spiral chucks meets DIN 6386, Part 1, Accuracy Class I. In order to machine large and heavy workpieces at the highest possible cutting capacity, optimum clamping is required using great forces. Röhm plane disks, with a diameter of up to 4500 mm and their indisputable merits have proven themselves here.

F-Tool PIN center chuck
The PIN center chuck is a compact reference system and is able for the collet of electrodes and work pieces. It‘s also the base of the F-Tool PIN ZeroPoint centering system. The centering, respective the positioning happens in two steps. The first step is the pre-centering with the PIN centering bolt. The precise centering is done, if the cone of the spigot is intervening on the flexible centering plate, and the piece is drawn to the clamping area. With the intervention of the PIN index 8 mm into the cross slot, the angle coat is defined.

MacroJunior – small, but big enough for most electrodes
A reference system tailored for modern EDM technology with automatic electrode changing and unmanned production.
The patented and compact MacroJunior system is intended mainly for small electrodes. Unlike other Macro systems, in MacroJunior the chuck, not the electrode holder, has positioning tongues. A design which means that the electrode holders can be supplied at a very attractive price.
The design with three reference points in the X-, Y- and Z-directions means that, despite any tolerance variations in the holder, the coupling repeats very accurately when it is locked with its screw connection.
Tests and calculations done by independent researchers and institutes have established that MacroJunior, despite its small size, offers greater torsional rigidity than other significantly larger and costlier systems on the market.
- More compact than any other system
- Inexpensive electrode holders for good economy
- Movable drawbar eliminates bending forces
Facts
- Repetition accuracy: 0.002 mm
- Recommended tightening torque, manual chucks: 4 Nm.
- Permitted torque for 25 mm holder: 10 Nm
- Permitted torque for 30 mm holder: 25 Nm

ISVG4100
The simultaneous presetting and clamping of tools has been implemented consistently in this high-end system. After the actual dimension is set, the tool is shrunk to the required dimension fully automatically. The system is designed so that other conventional clamping systems (e.g. draw-in collet chucks) can be preset. The extremely stiff total construction guarantees high setting accuracies.
Ø3-Ø50mm
ISG3200
The universal shrinking system for the professional use of the shrinking technique. With the unique coil changing system the energy coupling is adapted optimally to the die chuck used in each case. This enables the smallest tool dimensions (5-50 mm) in HSS and even down to 3 mm in HM to be clamped. Four integrated fans facilitate the fast and uniform cooling of the die chuck.

Hardinge FlexC™ Collet Systems are flexible, sealed collet heads that interchange in seconds and are available with spindle mounts for all brands of CNC lathes.
Pull-back thru-hole, pull-back stationary stop and push-to-close dead-length® styles are available for main and sub-spindle CNC lathe applications. Hardinge FlexC collet heads are fully interchangeable with competitor’s models. Hardinge guarantees accuracy within .0004" (.010mm) TIR for the collet system models A and D, and .0008" (.020mm) TIR for style DL.
The changeover concept is simple using a manual wrench to compress the collet for quick removal or replacement in seconds. A typical FlexC collet head has a gripping range of .020" (.5mm) above and below its nominal size to allow variation in bar stock without having to change the collet. Parallel clamping minimizes stock "push back" and requires less draw bar force to achieve the same gripping capability as conventional collets.
Emergency collets are reusable. Standard hardened and ground collets are stocked in round smooth, round serrated and hex shape. Square sizes are made to order. Special applications including stepped holes, special shapes, off-center, etc. can be custom-made from stock blanks.

HSK Tooling Types Offered:
• Four types of MEGA Chuck series optimises high speed and precise cutting with drills and endmills.
• The Fullcut Mill, the world's first indexable insert endmill, offers both accuracy and toughness.
• KAB tool shanks, the original and #1 modular boring system in the world!
Premium Material Selection
Since HSK is a hollow taper shank, the material has a critical role for optimum performance. BIG uses carefully selected high grade alloy steels. Particularly, BIG uses die steel materials for HSK 40 and smaller where the cross section of shank taper is very thin.
Important Tool Retention Feature
Internal clamping of HSK tools is defined by the location of highly concentrated forces from the machine tool. Accuracy and position of this form will affect the righdity, repeatability, and precision of tool holders. BIG provides finish machining of this area after heat treatment.
Drive Key Form
HSK Shanks according to Form A are designed to carry out torque transmission by the round shaped key-way at the end of the taper. Because of the importance of this round shaped geometry, BIG provides finishing of this feature after heat treatment.
Pre-Balanced Design
Since HSK Form A has non-symmetric keyways, it is not balanced. BIG Form A holders are pre-balanced near the tool change V-Groove recommended by ISO standard and can therefore be used for high speed applications.
Hole For Manual Clamping
BIG HSK Form A holders have a manual clamping hole as a standard and can therefore be used in place of HSK Form C which is manually mounted in spindles.
