Each FMS vise can be vertically assembled thanks to extra keys on the base and with the use of a purpose base plate to be ordered extra (Art.827). FMS vises could be back to back or side to side or cross assembled. By the way, FMS jaws never stick out from the base.
Of course solid Multilfex visecubes bodies for Horizontal Machining centres could be also supplied as standard items, which offer the possibility to reduce the number of set up given that, they allow to machine workpieces not only on the front side, but also on their lateral sides during the same work cycle.
Specifically designed for Horizontal machining centres are cubi morsa Vise Towers or Vise Cubes: a solid structure allows, with the max rigidity, to get, in a vertical way, all the types and options already seen horizontally.
In such way all six sides of a typical prismatic workpiece can be machined in only 2 clampings. All this also increases the accuracy of the operations.
Of course even single Multiflex vises can be vertically assembled with proper reference points and supports. Vertical Machining Centres can be equipped with dividing tables in order to get the same result too (lateral sides operations).

The Multiflex series vises are a total new concept of modular clamping system able to maximize the machine table capacity and increase its productivity (reduced dead times).
This system is designated for clamping several workpieces at the same time on the machine tool table, thus reducing tool changeover times.
This modular system makes a wide variety of clamping arrangements possible, wheter for several workpieces (equal or different) or for custom application. The base could in fact be clamped to the machine table while the jaws positioning, number or type could vary according to workholding needs (from 1 to 9 pcs. clamping possibility on the same vise base, see page 6-26).
1. Made of high alloyed quality steel, hardness 60±2 HRC - No wear
2. Highest precision accuracy: ground rack teeth on both the base and the jaws (ground teeth even between the fixed and movable jaws)
3. Minimum of set up times: quick and flexible jaws positioning
4. Possibility of vises matching and jaws alignement on whatever position on the vise base
5. Unlimited clamping range and combination (step jaws, prismatic, soft)
6. Guided Pull Down jaw Action thanks to the ground comb-teeth jaws
7. Possibility of vertical set up through Tombstones or Solid Vise Cube

General description
The pierce-nut stamping process is integrated to the sheet metal stamping line. Pierce-nuts offer significant savings in time and costs over weld-nuts that are installed outside the stamping line. However, pierce-nut stamping requires a good installation to ensure optimal performance.Kaller's Pierce-Nut Head Module offers a patented solution to fasten nuts to the panel. The Pierce-Nut Head Module is powered by nitrogen gas, providing considerable advantages over traditional in-die pierce-nut heads. By controlling the gas pressure in the Pierce-Nut Head, the setting force of the pierce-nut can be controlled and will be constant regardless of material tolerances. The pierce-nuts are fed into the Pierce-Nut Head via a feeder hose, into the Nut Inlet. When the Pierce-Nut Head is in its open position, one pierce-nut is pushed into position, ready to be fastened to the panel. The press moves down and the pierce-nut is pushed through the Extension to meet the panel.

Active without pressure - compact and powerful:
The Clamping and Braking Element with spring-loaded energy storage UB.
The UB series combines the technology of our BW, TK and MB series. The rigid housing and central position of the wedge slide gear achieve very high supporting forces. The mounting hole template enables the BW, TK and MB series to be substituted. The UB series is based on a dual-effective wedge slide gear with spring-loaded energy storage for clamping and braking without pressure.
This arrangement of three pistons connected in a line allows use of a stronger spring at 5.5bar.
The stronger spring-loaded storage permits holding forces up to 9,000 N. Positive fit contact sections mounted within a strong casing guarantee high axial and horizontal rigidity.
The UB series is designed for braking on linear guides. Because of the material combination of the linear guide/contact section, the linear guide won't be damaged by the contact section.
In order to exclude damage from contamination with chips (chips between contact section and linear guide), the elements can be fitted with original seals (seal kit) from the respective linear guide manufacturer and longitudinal seals as accessories.
When used in harsh work environments or with cooling liquid, the seal kit should be used as well.

Safety Locks similar to Safety Catchers and Safety Brakes are used against failure of lifting members. But in contrast to those they are not suitable to decelerate masses or to dissipate kinetic energy. On the other hand, the rod displacement to build up the holding force is very small, so that this units can be used for a approximitive positioning tasks as well. Furthermore this design principle allows compact solutions even for small rod sizes (smaller than for Safety Catchers). In the field of pneumatic clamping devices the Safety Locks are providing the absolutely highest holding forces in relation to housing dimensions.

Precision and modularity united to an exceptional price-quality relationship assured the GERARDI Co. success, the company has become in few years the Europe leader in the modular vises manufacturing. GERARDI new thinking has made others manufacturers to produce copies, but there is no other manufacturer with such a broad program or which has developed such a complete BLOCKING MODULAR SYSTEM thinking. It will always pay to invest in the original product.
Often the positioning accuracy and the set up fastness seem to be two non-compatible characteristic, but not at all with GERARDI system: the built in, fixed reference points give both precision and short set up times: moreover the broadest assortment program available allows you to obtain with standard solutions even the fixtures you thought special.
Following is a synthesis of the GERARDI vises program:
STANDARD and XL vises, which you can choose in 6 different types of sizes each with several openings, even in the version with narrow-width ground jaws (to work with the vise positioned on its side) or with super-narrow jaws (to match vises side by side).
All the vises can be mounted on the swivel base which you can buy even in a second time as all the other combinations (extra modular elements as extensions and stack-type jaws, pull-down jaws, floating jaws, prismatic, for round pieces, solid with single or double step, soft or case hardened, with adjustable set screws, hydraulic-control, etc.).
