Smart Weigh Belt (SWB) Feeders are a key component used for the weighing of a variety of bulk solids in a wide range of processes. The most typical application is for feeding / weighing into a continuous process. The process material may enter the Smart Weigh Belt directly from an upstream hopper or via a prefeed device like a screw feeder.

The Smart Weigh Belt can be used as a feeder, batcher, or meter. By utilizing different control software, the Smart Weigh Belt can be used to feed material into a batch system. For inventory control or metering, the Smart Weigh Belt can be placed into a constant speed configuration to measure or totalize the amount fed into a process.
The Smart Weigh Belt offers gentle material handling, an important benefit compared to other feed devices like a screw feeder when handling the following materials:
Flakes (e.g. corn flakes, bran flakes, and wheat flakes)
Lumpy bulk solids (e.g. vegatables and fruits)
Shear sensitive materials (e.g. corn flakes, frozen vegetables and frozen fruits)
High abrasive bulk solids - due to a low friction coefficient applied to the materials
Low melting bulk solids (e.g. fat flakes)

Fine dosing short-cut feeder is a good and economical solution for conditioning applications, when reduction of dosing time dosing is a must.
These feeders are controlled with motor rpm and outlet section of extractor. For batch process MCPI’s “Short-cut system” is a mechatronic solution which ensures a perfect control of the extractor movement with repeatability below 3/100 sec, to ensure quick and accurate feeding.
The very small overshoot value of these feeders, associated with a sharp control of extractor movement, are the main points to explain the so high level of performances in terms of dosing time and accuracy.
With the different versions of the range, all specific requirements get answers: With Fine dosing short-cut feeder it possible to reach very short dosing time (from 0.2 sec) and feeding quantities from 0.1 gram to many kilo grams.
Design of these feeders is made in agreement with drug and food industries requests for cleaning.

The device DDS 400 is a mechanical silo discharge and metering unit for powders stored in silo. It can be installed below any silo fitted with a 60° constant angle conical outlet.
The storage volume can be over 300 m3.
It caters for throughput from a few l/h up to 15 m3/h according to the product.

Bulk materials are frequently stored in hoppers and silos. To do different
environemental conditions and divers product caracteristics the discharge
and empting of such hoppers and silos can cause troubles.
On the market different discharge pads are offered. Gericke uses, beside of
its RA Bin Discharger and vibrating Bin Dischargers, aeration nozzles (flow
pad). This nozzles inject the 10 Nm3 air per hour and per nozzle in to the
hopper. By this measure the airflow fluidises the product and cleanes the
inside of the compartment.
The installation of the flow pad is very easy and simple just drill a hole
with diameter 53mm and fix the flow pad with 4 screws.

With the MDW600, Piovan launches in the market its new range of gravimetric blenders. The new model has a nominal capacity of 600kg/h and can dose up to 8 different components.
The MDW600 is suitable for application in the fields of injection, extrusion and blow-moulding. It can be installed on the feed-throat of the injection moulding machine or extruder in single applications, or frame-mounted in centralised solutions.
The distinctive characteristic of the machine is represented by its high performance levels, achieved using specially designed components, so to fulfil the most stringent requirements. The new mixer with round bottom section, equipped with innovative mixing paddles guarantees homogeneous mixing, uniform blend descent and absence of stagnation. It is mounted on a load cell so to ensure constancy of operation and high accuracy of the blend.

A complete range of gravimetric blenders
The Piovan MDW Series batch gravimetric blenders are ideally suited for application on injection moulding machines, blow moulding machines and extruders. Slide gates, high precision augers and micro-cell devices ensure that the various components are dosed in the set percentages.
The range consists of six models with capacities from 30 to 1500 kg/h. They can dose, weigh and blend up to six materials.

Bunting General-Purpose Grate Magnets provide a properly configured, high-density magnetic field to trap and hold ferrous fines, fragments, and small metal objects. Stainless steel tubing and frames are welded into strong, integral units. They can be installed - or simply laid - inside hoppers, housings, and bins - and easily removed for cleaning. Grates are built for low-abrasion applications and should measure at least twice the size of your outlet opening, so as not to restrict product flow.
General-Purpose Grate Magnets consist of multi-polarity 1-inch diameter cartridges arranged on 2-inch centers. They're available in round, square, and rectangular configurations from 4" through 36" in size. They can be ordered without baffles for freer flowing materials, and with angular baffles for maximum magnetic protection.

VORTEX® QUANTUM SERIES ORIFICE GATE
The patent pending Quantum Series Orifice Gate is specifically designed to handle dry bulk solids in gravity flow, dilute phase, or vacuum conveying systems.
A full flow orifice provides unrestricted conveying of material with no disk or ledges to impede flow or cause material bridging. The gate seat and live-loaded seals are shielded from blast abrasion by a metal insert, which provides a smooth bore through the valve improving performance and decreasing any pressure drop across the orifice.
By design, the valve “self cleans” material from the seat on each stroke of the valve blade, improving overall seat life. The Quantum Series Orifice Gate is designed to eliminate problems, enabling you to meet your objectives by increasing production, while decreasing labour and equipment costs.

The product feed into the pipeline is done with rotary valves or injectors. Lean phase conveying is used for simple bulk materials and such kind of product which are not sensitive to attrition or breakage.

In gravimetric feeding, dry bulk material or liquid is fed into a process at a constant weight per unit of time since weight is a variable that can be captured by a weighing module. Consistent control and complete monitoring are possible. In principle, gravimetric feeding combines monitoring of the feeding process with a feedback loop that enables accurate material control.
Typical application:
Precise feeding and blending of materials is a critical part of the process when manufacturing reinforced thermoplastics. Typical applications require the blending of several granular materials with one or two powder materials within a compact area at the throat of an extruder. Maintaining a steady and precise level of blended material above the throat of the extruder is also a requirement.

Compact line of loss-in-weigh feeders for materials with varying bulk density: The digital load cell integrated is protected against corrosion by stainless steel housing and is equipped with vertical overload stops.
Two different application programs are proposed for batch or continuous dosing.
To reach a better dosing accuracy, the feeder is design in such a way that only ingredient hopper and extractors are weighed (It is possible to select a load cell with smaller range of measure and consequently smaller interval).
The feeder is controlled with a multitasking operating system combining the functions of an operator interface, weighing controller, PLC and interfaces.
Design of these feeders is made in agreement with drug and food industries requests for cleaning.
