Description of tool holders and tool carriers
Tool holders are mainly clamps suppliers and expandable dollies and also derivatives of clamps.
Tool-carrier ranges are manufactured to meet ISO and HSK standards as well as Schaublin’s standards which have often become the standards for the world. We also produce cylindrical tool-carriers, Morse tapers and specific adaptations of particular machines or applications.
Schaublin also develops, on request, special applications that require clamping abilities tailored to the customer’s requirements.
Operation and uses
Clamps are used to grip the material, parts in rotation and counter-rotation or tool shanks. These clamps are of pull or thrust type where the force on the taper closes the clamp onto the part to be gripped.
Clamps are generally steel, sometimes brass or with inserts of other materials.

SPANNTOP chucks generally work based on the pull-back principle. The clamping head is coupled to the draw mechanism. The clamping actuator pulls it via the drawtube into the taper of the professional chuck body. The link between the drawtube and the draw mechanism is the drawtube adapter. The drawtube adapter and the suppliers of spindle flange are custom made to fit a specific machine.
SPANNTOP chucks are balanced.
All clamping heads have a slot for the locating screw.
All SPANNTOP chucks have stroke limits in both directions.

Expanding mandrels are the ideal solution to many workholding problems. By holding parts on most of the datum bore (or outside diameter in the case of a chuck chuck) the clamping forces are evenly distributed, reducing distortions during part manufacture.
Mandrels also provide a superior method of holding parts which are high volume, have short cycle times or require the highest levels of concentricity.
Craftsman manufacture expanding mandrels tailored to your exact specifications. Many different mounting styles are available, including: manufacturer of spindle nose, between centres, Morse taper and faceplate. Different actuation methods can be used, such as drawbar, cantilever nut and front nut.
