Diskus double surface lateral grinding machine with vertical spindle.
This machine model is a steel-welded, box-frame design with greater rigidity than a comparable portal machine. The two vertical , directly driven motor spindles with liquid cooling each have an output of 23 kW to 48 kW. They are attached to rolling bearing compact carriages which perform all feed and return motions with a precision screw drive.
The machine version required for this application can be used as a plunge cut as well as throughfeed grinding machine. A number of parts can be ground simultaneously with the planetary drive provided with controlled rotation. While they are fed to the grinding tools using the plunge cut process in a planetary gear which rotates around its own axis. Replacement of the transport plate allows the same machine to be used for throughfeed grinding. |

With SATURN double-disc surface grinding, two vertical grinding wheels simultaneously grind the workpiece on its parallel outer surfaces. The grinding wheels are set against each other at a slightly conical angle, so that as it passes from top to bottom, the workpiece retains its final dimension only in the bottom section of the grinding path. Because the workpieces are fed vertically between the grinding wheels, the bearing weight of the workpiece does not affect the grinding result. What’s more, the
coolant can simply drain downwards together with the removed material. The SATURN range comprises three

Due to its versatility and simplicity of use it represents the state of art in surface grinding technology. The machine can be programmed to work in manless operation manner. It is equipped with the ROSA SYSTEM N unit, but it is also available in the NC version SYSTEM VI (Siemens Sinumerik 840 Di). Six models are available whose rotary table diameter of D=400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 mm.
The wheel spindle is of the interchangeable cartridge type and runs on opposed preloaded angular precision bearings. The standard power-rate of the wheel motor is 11 kW (15 kW for ROTOR 1200 and 1500).

Features:
The working table executes only longitudinal movements. Double V guide-ways are laminated with Turcite-B hand scraped to obtain smooth stick-slip free movements.
The column carries out only crossfeed movements. The column slide is guided by STAR roller linear guides, with C3 grade high precision ball-screws and driven by servo motor.
The spindle housing carries out only vertical movements. The Y-axis is also guided by STAR roller linear guides, with C3 grade high precision ball-screws and driven by servo motor.
The flanged cartridge type spindle is supported by 3 pairs of class 7 super precision angular contact ball bearings, preloaded and select-fitted into spindle cartridge.
The dresser is mounted on right side of table. Auto surface grinding cycles and dressing cycles with compensation are standard.
The automatic re-circulating lubrication system supplies lubricant to all of the guide ways and lead screws as the machine operates.
The external independent hydraulic tank is located outside the machine to be easily accessible for maintenance. Driven by the proportional valve hydraulic system for easy speed adjustment in a range of 2~30meter/min for most surface grinding applications.
The oil cooler unit is standard for hydraulic system to prevent the temperature rise, and thermal deformation can be reduced to minimum.

The design of the LINEA SILVER is inspired by the same construction and modularity criteria which feature the LINEA STEEL machines. LINEA SILVER can be utilized both for small batches (even single pieces) and for big series. Furthermore, it offers the possibility of grinding in unmanned cycles.
This range consists of five models for grinding sizes from 450x850x700(h) to 4250x850x700(h) mm. Alternatively, there are two control systems, i.e. either CNC or NC, the software of which has been purposely developed directly by Rosa Ermando SpA.
