Shot Peening or Stress Peening serve to increase the fatigue strength of parts subjected to high alternating bending or torsional stress. Shot and Stress Peening have widely superseded other time-consuming and expensive processes, and permit the design of less expensive, light weight components.
Shot or Stress Peening lead to significant improvements of mechanical properties of workpieces.
DISA builds a broad range of machine models based on know-how established over many decades, and offers vast experience and latest knowledge gained in its own workshops.

Shot peening, also called stress peening, is a special surface treatment technology within the field of shot blasting. The objective of this process is to increase the strength and fatigue life of highly stressed components.
In this satellite rotary table system, bevel wheels of different sizes made of steel, with a single component weight of 150 gm are shot peened. This significantly increases abrasion resistance and operating life. Peening the parts is the primary objective. In addition, the surface of the components is cleaned. The dimensions of the components can vary from 58 mm to 85 mm in diameter, and 18 mm in height. A total of 30 peening programs are stored in the control system for processing the different components.
The system saves energy and money, requiring much less energy than a compressed-air system with a much higher output.
High-intensity shot peening is achieved by a combination of powerful (15 KW) high-performance blast wheels and the very short travel distance between the peening media and the component due to the system's compact construction.
This versatile system allows simultaneous processing of different types of parts. They are placed on parts fixtures in all five segments of the rotary table.

Shot peening is a specialized blasting process that bombards a metallic work piece with a round abrasive, typically steel shot, glass beads, or ceramic shot, thereby compressing the surface. This compression can greatly improve the strength and fatigue life of the part. An analogy would be the blacksmith that hammers a sword to increase its strength.
Parts that are commonly shot peened include:
- Valve Springs
- Suspension Springs
- Leaf Springs
- Torsion Bars
- Gears
- Connecting Rods
There are many others. Shot peening has the potential to improve the service life of nearly any metallic work piece that is subject to repeated stresses.

Since water in the vapor phase in its purest form is present, it is suitable in this state of aggregation in outstanding way for the cleaning. On the oil-moistened metal surface the change of temperature leads to a drastic sinking of the viscosity of the oil. Supported by the mechanical effect of the water vapor subjected under pressure an excellent cleaning efficiency is obtained.
Operational principle:
The profiles are cleaned in a closed cleaning system with water vapor. The MTM Destimat produces made of tap water
2-5 bar water vapor, which is steered by a nozzle directly on the preheated surface of the going through profile. The entire surface is released in such a way from the drawing oil. The oil running off is collected and separated.
Advantages:
- most modern and patented MTM equipment technology
- energy-saving enterprise with only max. 15 KW of capacity
- space-saving solution, the total dimension of the compact
Run plant amounts to 1,900 x 800 x 1,600 mm (LxBxH), inclusive on that
Plant installed switchgear cabinet amounts to the height of 2,300 mm
- simple maintenance
- the plant can without large expenditure on other profile measures reequipped

The new LR long radius machines are proof of how quickly a new finishing system can establish itself in the market. This machine type was introduced in spring of 2004, yet it has been so well accepted by our customers that the LR machine range has already grown to 5 different models of differing sizes. The LR concept offers a high degree of flexibility. Long radius machines can be used for in-line continuous processing and for batch processing. In batch processing, the machines are equipped with a pneumatic separation flap. Batch processing in LR machines allows the processing of larger parts, with a minimum of part-on-part contact. Their main application is in-line, continuous-feed operation. Continuous-feed operation allows the LR machines to be placed directly into an in-line manufacturing process without having to invest in expensive batch loading equipment. A typical application is the deburring of transmission parts. A most recent example is the finishing of camshafts. The processing objective was the removal of a light burr after machining, without changing the Rz surface readings. The automated LR system replaced a manual brush deburring.

The Brooks/MSP 2800 TurboVaporizer system delivers direct liquid-inject vacuum film coating in processes such as Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and MOCVD. Carrier gas that is heated to the vaporization temperature of the liquid quickly vaporizes the atomized liquid. This results in low temperature, gentle vaporization that produces a very pure vapor.
The system delivers these outstanding benefits:
1) Superior Coriolis-based flow measurement and control;
2) Perfectly repeatable film properties;
3) Uniform film structure throughout the deposition run;
4) More efficient precursor liquid use due to total and complete vaporization;
5) Complete absence of decomposition products ensuring particle-free films;
6) Remarkable dynamic range, handling precursor flows from a few grams per hour to several thousand grams per hour;
7) The ability of a single vaporizer to handle multiple precursors while ensuring both complete vaporization and complete mixing.

RÖSLER-Waterjet-Machines blast with clean pure water and attain a pressure up to 60000 psi, 4.000 bar. This water is projected onto the component to be treated, via one or more nozzles fixed on a rotating nozzle holder.
The rotation of the nozzle(s) generates a milling or grinding effect on the parts. This is a "soft" method to treat parts from which tenacious, very hard coatings have to be removed.
Blasting with water has many advantages:
No peening effect > no deformations at the part
Absolutely media-free water > insignificant abrasion at the part
Environment-friendly > The process water can be re-used in the closed circuit
No abrasive deposits > no subsequent cleaning of the parts necessary
No abrasive wear
Anticorrosives may be utilised
This procedure is employed for multiple applications in many industrial sectors:
Removal of thermic coatings (e.g. plasma coatings)
Cleaning of welding lines from residual slag
Cleaning of cast parts from sand and ceramic residuals
De-lacquering of a variety of different work pieces
The nozzles are directed by industrial robots or CNC-systems. Thus, a homogeneous blasting result can be achieved.
All relevant machine parameters can be supervised, recorded and adjusted by a central computer.

Mink web spreader rolls (BSW) – for wrinkle prevention
Systems for guiding the movement of plastic films and webs have a strong tendency to make wrinkles, resulting in defects. Mink web spreader rolls™ offer a dependable solution to this problem – at unbeatable prices. The bristles, which are inclined at a precisely determined angle, push out on the film from the middle, ensuring that it stays smooth. Marks or imprints that could impair quality are prevented. Mink web spreader rolls can easily be installed at every critical point in a system. Because they are so inexpensive, it even pays to use them as a replacement for pinch rolls. The freely turning roller, mounted on ball bearings, rotate much more easily than other types of spreader rolls. Mink web spreader rolls can be delivered ready to install within a few days, according to your dimensions and specifications.
Advantages:
• Plastic films and webs are kept perfectly smooth during processing
• The spreading effect begins right where the spreader roll and web make contact
• This sophisticated system replaces inadequate alternatives
