FLUID BED DRYER DESIGN
The rectangular fluid bed dryer system, CONTACT FLUIDIZERTM incorporates back-mix and plug flow sections. A rotary distributor disperses the wet feed evenly over the back-mix section equipped with contact heating surfaces immersed in the fluidized layer.
The heating surfaces of this fluid bed dryer are designed to avoid deposits and obtain a high heat transfer in the fluidized layer, and they provide a significant portion of the required energy.
Fluid Bed Dryer - CONTACT FLUIDIZER
Therefore it is possible to reduce both the temperature and the flow of gas through the system. This is particularly important for heat sensitive products.
Specially designed perforated gill plates allow handling of oversizes and minimize powder holdup by grade changes.
The heating panels can be inspected or cleaned externally.
Cleaning in place (CIP) of the whole plant is often provided.
Subsequent plug flow sections are used for postdrying and cooling, if required.
ADVANTAGES
Advantages of the CONTACT FLUIDIZERTM - compared to fluid beds without heating surfaces, two-stage flash/fluid bed dryers, or rotary dryers - include its compact design, high thermal efficiency, and low gas throughput

The plants are characterized by an enormous flexibility. By means of individual adaptation of the inlet air conditions which can be adjusted section-wise, the weir adjustment for optimization of the retention time distribution and the integrated filter concept, particles can be formulated exactly according to the customer's demands.
In order to meet the requirements of the EC Directive 94/9 (ATEX 95), the continuous fluidized bed plants can be equipped with certified explosion suppression systems according to the available product data and depending on the risk assessment for dust explosions.
The GMP design allows simple and quick cleaning, especially as WIP systems for automatic cleaning can be integrated.

AUREL A206 Dryer/Curing Oven system
Description
The AUREL A206 dryer system is special designed for predrying of pastes in thick film technology.
Applications
• IR Drying of Thick Film pastes
• IR Curing of adhesives and polimeric pastes
Prior to being submitted to be firing process, substrates with screened-on inks/pastes must be predryed to evaporate the solvents.
Infrared heat is the only heating method available by which thick film pastes can be properly dryed with optimum results.
This is because infrared heat waves penetrate the material and dry the inside of the material first, then dry outwardly to the surface.
Convenction heat causes the outside of the paste to dry first forming a film through which it is difficult for the solvent within to pass.
The solvents actually become partially trapped and as they eventally are released cause cracks in the surface of the material.
Consequently the surface is irregular, resulting in reduced conductivity or inconsistent resistivity.
The new model A206 predrying oven was designed to prevent the problems outlined.
It's design criteria are based on extensive experience in thick film technology, to provide the user with a machine that assures optimum results.

DRYING WITHOUT AGGLOMERATION
The Nara-designed Media Slurry Dryer makes it possible to dry from slurry to fine powder in one step – i.e. without additional desagglomeration. This is due to the following process: The slurry is fed by a pump into the media beads which are in fluidised state by means of the incoming hot air. The slurry is dispersed and forms a film on the media surface. Because of the very large surface area of the media, the volatile slurry component dries in a short time. The left-over dried solids are peeled from the media surface because of the continuous collisions the media particles undergo. The peeled-off solids are transported to the dust separator by entrainment into the exhaust air.
Special features of the NMSD:
• its compactness
• the good thermal efficiency
• easy maintenance
• the nearly same size of the powder particles and the solid particles in the slurry
Materials this drying method is most suited for are: inorganic materials like calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, glass powder, magnesium hydroxide, silica and zinc sulphide. But also materials like animal blood, emulsion resins, dyes, pigments and medicines can be dried very effectively in this way.
The capacity of the dryer depends on the fluid bed area, the temperature and the material. The evaporated water quantity of actual plants ranges from 2 kg/h (laboratory type) up to 1.4 t/h.

The Paddle Dryer, developed and supplied by NARA, is an indirect dryer. It offers a wide range of possibilities for material treatment. The NPD is applied to dry, heat or cool organic or inorganic pellets, granules and powders. Filter cakes, thick pastes and even thick slurries having a sticky phase to pass during processing are handled in the machine. The raw material temperature changes when it gets into direct contact with the revolving, wedge-shaped rotating paddles and the jacket. All powder contacted surfaces are heated or cooled. Actually there are plants running with heating areas from 1,5 up to 280 m² and effective volumes between 0,0089 and 34 m³.
The NARA Paddle Dryer is well known for its compact construction and the consequently small need of installation space. This results from the high heat transfer coefficient and heat efficiency. These features combined with the self-cleaning effect of the paddles assure a homogeneous product, cooling or heating process for continuous and/or batch unit operations.

In the field of drying, Piovan has developed the application of an innovative technology: the use of a rotor with a honeycomb structure to eliminate the humidity released by plastic material during the drying process.
This brand-new series, presented for the first time at the K2007 show, consists of four models that operate in a temperature range from 80 to 150°C, with air flows from 50 to 200 m³/h: HR50, HR100, HR150 and HR200.
The new HR dryers present numerous advantages such as:
• No expense for the connection of cooling water or compressed air and no running costs for such services because the HR units require only electric power supply;
• 50% reduction of the use of energy;
• Stable Dew Point, featuring set-up values in a range down to -50°C;
• Easy access to all machine components allowing Simplified maintenance
• Guaranteed absence of dust and of material contamination, making the HR dryers suitable for application in the medical and optical sectors too;
• Continuity of operation of the honeycomb rotor ensured by the new drive mechanism furnished with a wear-resistant Kevlar reinforced belt which eliminates traditional maintenance operations or lubrication, necessary when using rudimental belts or chains.

The dehumidication of small and average-sized quantities of polymers may be perfectly carried out with the DD 30 and DD 60 series dehumidifiers. Although these machines have only one silicate cartridge, if the plant is correctly dimensioned, it is possible to easily reach DEW POINT even at 40°C. The temperature control of the dehumidification process is assured by microprocessor system, with a visualization on the panel of the operations carried out and alarms in progress. Silicate regeneration is entirely automatic, the cycle times being personalized by the manufacturer for each machine with the hopper capacity with which it has been fitted, thereby obtaining the maximum efficiency with the least energy expenditure. The original graphics of the control panel facilitate the operator in setting the optimum process temperature, also indicating the minimum stay time in order to obtain a good dehumidification of each material.
