Semi-Automatic Case Former / Case Erector - BEL 450 Overview
The BEL 450 is a semi-automatic poly bag inserter & pack station with top & bottom case taping. Designed for use on bulk filling lines, the BEL 450 provides a cost effective alternative to the difficult process of manually inserting poly bag liners into corrugated cases. Cases are placed on the vacuum plenum after which a poly bag liner is placed into the box. The bag is quickly drawn fully into the case leaving no voids in the box corners, and the case is then ready to be filled.
Filling of cases can be done manually or automated further with the inclusion of an optional programmable weigh scale that can also verify count. Alternatively the BEL 450 semi-automatic poly bag inserter/case former can be fitted with an optional load cell for interfacing with existing automatic scale filling equipment such as auger or hopper fillers, and belt feeders.
After filling, the operator closes the poly liner, folds the top case flaps closed and moves the case forward into the conveyor where tape is automatically applied to seal the top and bottom flaps. The BEL 450 semi-automatic poly bag inserter/case former is an ideal solution for automating bulk packing lines and can quickly recover its modest investment through labor savings and improved efficiencies.

What does it do?
- Our robotic top loaders allow you to place a variety of packaged products directly into cases, trays, crates, and other types of secondary containers.
How does it work?
- Product is collated into a group using one of our custom collation methods. The product is then picked by a specially designed end-effector. The fully servo-driven robot ensures smooth placement into the secondary container.
What can I pack?
- Bags, pouches, flow-wraps, thermo-formed containers, as well as a variety of rigid containers such as cartons, cups, bottles, etc.
How productive is it?
- The top loader can pack up to 300 products per minute when using our Smart-Trak™ collation and up to 300 bags per minute when using our Smart-Bin™ collationEven higher speeds can be reached with rigid containers. Our latest project involved speeds at 900 cups per minute!
How is the changeover?
- End-effectors can be changed out within 30 seconds using a simple clamping mechanism. Most settings can be created from the operator panel and saved as unique product codes. The robotic motion is also easily changed and saved as unique product codes.

- Flexible packing patterns
- Solid and compact machinery
- On-board electrical cabinet
- SIEMENS S7 PLC with Siemens interface
The Case filling machine KF 350 collates bags and drops them by gravity into standard pre-erected cases. The packs (generally FFS bags) are conveyed, lying flat, into the Model KF 350 case filling machine. The bags are equalised between top and bottom belts as they enter the system and are then accelerated by a second conveyor. A dividing conveyor and a system of pack stops allows the bags to form a layer, two bags wide, on top of the flaps. If needed, the flaps can be equipped with belts to assist bag transport and layer formation. When each layer is complete, the flaps open and the bags drop by gravity into the case. The cycle continues until the correct number of layers transfer into the case. Where layers are more than two bags wide, the case is indexed underneath the release flaps as the bags are dropped in. Optional, a top pusher and vibrator can be integrated in the line.
