"HelieR - Structured Packing"
The HelieR Structured Packing have different diameters (1",1.5",4")
Geometrically they apply the synergy arising from the contemporary use of two "simple surfaces"
> the cylinder
> the helix, included inside.
Thanks to this property and to their specific Diameter/Helix ratio, the HelieR Structured Packing have Specific Areas between 80 m2/m3 and 320 m2/m3.
Thanks to their geometry and to the fluid-dynamic characteristics of the passing phases, the HelieR Structured Packing have
> no engulfing velocity
> the lowest pressure drops Delta P (mm H2O/m)
> the lowest specific pressure drops DP*HOG (mm H2O)
> high mass Transfer Coefficient
> high efficiency for gas phase resistance (SO2)
> high efficiency for liquid phase resistance (CO2, NH3)
> the lowest operating costs (columns applications) when compared to other solutions
These properties have been duly documented by the Industrial Research done by the University of Pisa and by the consequent scientific bibliography than edited.

| FLEXIPAC® and GEMPAK® structured packings provide high capacity, higher efficiency and lower pressure drop than any random packing and most trays available today. Revamping existing packed or trayed columns with structured packing from Koch-Glitsch will increase the operation capacity of the tower, lower the pressure drop, and lower the energy cost of the distillation or absorption operation. Our structured packing elements may be fabricated in a variety of metals and plastics, as well as in ceramic. |

Metex OPTI-PACK knitted wire mesh Structured Tower Packing is designed to overcome many of the shortcomings of other devices. The packing consists of multiple strands of very fine wire, typically 0.00045" diameter, knitted together to form a 2-ply layer of flat mesh. The flat mesh is corrugated, or "crimped" to give it a uniform, 3-dimensional structure of "peaks and valleys." These peaks and valleys provide a path through which vapor can readily flow, both radially and axially.
The multistrand fine wire generates high surface area (typically 500 ft2 to 800 ft2 per ft3) and a "capillary effect" on the descending liquids to promote good liquid distribution, residence time and thin-film development.
The resiliency of the fine wire that ensures that the packing will conform to vessel anomalies between the wall and the internals. These gaps often lead lead to vapor bypassing that keeps your unit from realizing its design performance.
These mechanisms work together to promote the intimate liquid-vapor contacting needed to achieve the separation demanded by high-value-added processing. Typically, structured sire mesh tower packing exhibits Height per Equivalent Theoretical Plate (HETP) in the range of 3 to 12 inches, depending on the application of fluids. In general, these packings offer the highest efficiency per foot of bed and the lowest pressure drop per theoretical stage, versus other mass transfer devices. |

During manufacture of composite structural components by manual lay-up, it is necessary to position plies of dry or wet fabric or prepreg accurately on a tool, or on preceding plies. Template methods or specialised equipment are often used for this purpose, in order to aid the operator in correctly and accurately locating a ply. Accuracy in ply placement as well as quality assurance regarding the correct ply sequence and orientation are very important factors in the manufacture of high-cost, high-performance composite components.
The purpose of the novel Ply Placement Visual Aid System is to display together on a computer screen a live video image of the "real world" that the operator is interacting with, and a computer-generated image of the structure and composite ply being assembled.
The data for the computer generated drawings of the plies that are displayed correctly in place, may originate from virtually any CAD application, or from our own Laminate Tools software application, for additional features. Laminate Tools is a powerful design tool for composite material structures, and includes industry-leading draping simulation capabilities for ply definition. |
