| Crest FeltCrest compressed polyurethane foam is a unique, environmentally friendly, flexible foam material that has been permanently compressed to a predetermined thickness. It is made from a wide selection of uncompressed foams manufactured by Crest. For each application, a foam is selected which exhibits the desired properties, then sliced to the proper precompressed thickness. The sliced foam sheet is then permanently compressed through a precisely controlled thermal setting process to form FeltCrest. |
|
| Explosion Suppressant Foam (ESF) has been used successfully in thousands of installations for over three decades. Proprietary manufacturing processes and special thermal reticulation techniques permit production of flexible skeletal foam structures with precisely controlled pore sizes and without cell membranes. The resultant "open pore" foam exhibits many unique characteristics and offers special advantages in fuel tanks for explosion suppression, fuel surge control, and noise mitigation applications of all kinds. |
|
| When compared to conventional filter media such as synthetic fiber mats, woven and non-woven fabrics, fiberglass, forest paper, and metals, Crest FilterCrest foams may exhibit superior properties, and offer substantial advantages |

| Composite profiles are produced by a pultrusion technique from resin and reinforcing elements. In most cases, glass fibres are used as reinforcement, but carbon or aramid fibres are applied, too. Depending on the properties required, straight fibres (rovings), various types of mats or fabrics or their combination are chosen. |
|
Pultrusion is a continuous production process to produce fiber-reinforced polymer profiles of any length and constant section.
Reinforcement fibers may be roving, continuous mat, woven roving, carbon, Kevlar, basalt, or others. The fibers are impregnated with a polymer matrix (resin, minerals, pigments, additives) and passed through a pre-forming station that produces the stratification necessary to give the profile the desired properties. After the pre-forming step, the resin-impregnated fibers are pulled through a heated die to polymerize the resin.
The pulling mechanism, attached at sufficiently spaced intervals to ensure proper hardening of the product after emerging from the die and to prevent breakage or deformation due to the pressure of the gripper, may consist of a crawler system, or two alternating dollies to ensure continuous traction of the profile.
The solid profile thus produced is then ready to be cut automatically to size.
Given its continuous nature, the pultrusion process is particularly suitable, both technologically and economically, for large scale or serial production. |

| Faraplan presents FOGLIA VERDE®, a patented covering film suitable for the most varied uses. FOGLIA VERDE® has absolutely innovative features superior to any other sheet on the market. The advantages it offers are self-evident and make FOGLIA VERDE® the most interesting and economical covering films in the sector for professional and hobby use. There are many reasons for choosing FOGLIA VERDE®. First of all its thickness is 0.12mm instead of 0.20 like the other films on the market. This means that for the same weight the surface area is 80% higher than ordinary sheets, giving an obvious saving. Of course its low thickness also means a lower use of raw material and therefore lower impact on disposal and greater environmental protection as a result. Another important feature of FOGLIA VERDE® is its exceptional mechanical resistance to tearing and long life, confirmed by laboratory tests. Despite its low thickness, the strength of FOGLIA VERDE® is greater than that of other sheets and up to three times higher than the standards envisaged by UNI 9298. This means that FOGLIA VERDE® carries out its job for a long time and without problems. |

THE MATERIAL
Butyl: The polymer butyl (IIR - isobutylene isoprene - rubber) is an elastomer with a small number of double bonds, produced through co-polymerisation of isobutylene and isoprene.
EPDM: The polymer EPDM, ethylene-propylene rubber, is produced through co-polymerisation of ethylene, propylene and diene monomer, producing a polymer made up of saturated linear macromolecules with a paraffinic structure.
In addition to the base polymer, both EPDM and Butyl contain reinforcing carbon black, fillers, process chemicals, antioxidants and vulcanising agents. After mixing the ingredients into a homogenous plastic compound, two layers of the rubber are rolled out in a calender to form a double sheet. Vulcanisation is then carried out. The long rubber molecules in the material are cross-linked through heat and pressure, creating an elastic membrane.
RESISTANT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
The vulcanisation process means that the material differs from all thermoplastic products, in that its properties are not affected by varying temperatures. The product is chemically stable and always returns to its original dimensions after stretching.
The cross-linked molecular structure gives EPDM and Butyl rubber their unique properties. Ageing or changes in characteristics are negligible despite decades of exposure to the atmosphere, sunlight, UV radiation, chemical fallout, water or major temperature fluctuations.

NR or Natural Rubber Polyisoprene is derived from latex liquid extracted from rubber trees. Originally cultivated in the Amazon region, it is now cultivated extensively in South East Asia, Africa and India. This rubber has excellent mechanical properties, low compression set and high resilience. It also has excellent dynamic and rebound properties. The operating temperature range is from -50° C to + 90° C. It is available in a wide range of harnesses from 30° to 90° shore A. It has good resistance to acids, alkalis and salts. It is not recommended for use in areas where it could come in contact with oils and hydrocarbons.
Application wise they are used as skirt board sheets, bridge bearing pads, shot blasting sheets, high tensile tangum sheets, commercial sheets with cotton insertion etc. |
