Bellows Couplings
Bellows couplings combine stainless steel bellows and aluminum hubs to offer superior performance in motion control applications. The bellows are made of stainless steel, which makes them ideal for transmitting torque. Due to the bellows' thin walls, the coupling is able to flex easily while remaining rigid under torsional loads. Parallel misalignment, angular misalignment and axial motion are accommodated by bellows.
The combination of aluminum hubs with the bellows results in an extremely lightweight, low inertia coupling. Zero backlash and a long, maintenance-free life are assured since the coupling has no moving parts. An important feature of the bellows coupling is a balanced design to reduce vibration in high rpm applications.
Ruland bellows couplings are offered in six sizes with set screw or Nomar® clamp style hubs and bores ranging from 1/8" (3mm) to 1" (25mm). Stainless steel hubs, keyways, and other custom features are available by special order.

These couplings are designed for use on general applications. The units are offered as standard, but can also be modified to incorporate options including torque limitation, torque measurement, etc. The arrangement maybe adapted to permit connection to machines by any conventional form.
• DS units will accept angular & axial misalignment only. If radial misalignment is expected, D or DJ units should be considered.
• DJ units consist of factory assembled transmission units. Installation involves fitting this transmission unit between the hubs and tightening the attachment screws only. This leads to easier and more rapid installation.

HS High Performance Couplings
The operating principle of disc couplings means that they can be designed using any even number of bolts (4 or above). Half these bolts fit to the "Driving" side and half to the "Driven" side. Hence, in a coupling with a total of 6 bolts (6HS), drive is through 3 bolts. This means that, for a given diameter of coupling, more torque can be transmitted through the 8-bolt (8HS) unit than the 6-bolt (6HS) coupling. However, as the number of bolts increases on a given diameter, the ‘span’ between them decreases and,
hence, so does the flexibility of the discs.
This brochure outlines couplings with 6, 8 & 10-bolt arrangements. The 6-bolt units have the higher flexibility and the 10-bolt units the higher torque capacity. The 8- bolt (8HS) units offer a compromise of flexibility against torque capacity and are often a good starting point if misalignment expectations are unknown.

The disc coupling is made with two hubs and a thin metallic disc. The metallic disc is the torque-transmitting element. This type is designed to bend in different directions (parallel offset). The disc design is popular in servo, stepper and drive applications for taking the load off the bearings.
Two hubs & thin metallic disc
• Metallic disc transmits torque
• Two-disc style allows bends in different directions (parallel offset)
• Misalignment up to 5 degrees
• Torsionally rigid

Disc Couplings
All disc couplings now have a black anodized finish.
Ruland disc couplings are available in single and double disc styles with bore sizes ranging from 1/8" to 1 1/4" in the inch series and 3mm to 30mm in the metric series. The disc coupling is composed of two black anodized aluminum hubs, multiple flat stainless steel disc springs and a center spacer for double disc styles. The center spacer is available in a choice of anodized aluminum or insulating acetal for electrical isolation. The thin discs allow for a substantial amount of angular and parallel misalignment between shafts, while remaining rigid under torque loads. The disc coupling, as a result, is a high performance motion control coupling with excellent high speed capabilities (up to 10,000 rpm), strength and torsional stiffness characteristics, and low inertia for today's highly responsive systems.
|
|
No need for lubrication and maintenance.
There is no need to disassemble the coupling to inspect.
Additionally, the condition of the discs can be checked
while the machine is running, using a strobe light.
The machine misalignment can be assessed.
Torsionally rigid without any backlash.
No wearing parts, high resistance to harsh environmental
conditions.
Infinite life if properly aligned.

DELTEX - shaft couplings are marked by small dimensions and
weights, as well as having low mass moment of inertia at high torque
transmission. The running properties and durability expectations
of the couplings have been obtained by precise surface finishing of all sides of the coupling. The shock loads produced by irregularly working power machines will be optimally dampened and absorbed. DELTEX – shaft couplings transfer the torque formsafe, are rotation elastic and safe against break through. DELTEX - couplings adjust axial, radial and angle changes. All steel parts are corrosion protected.
Function:
DELTEX - shaft couplings consist of two facing hubs, made of steel or aluminium, between which an elastic spider is mounted.
The elastic and form constant torque is transferred by this spider.
The elastic spiders made of special polyurethane are available in
various hardnesses according to application as well with rounded
teeth sides (DELTEX-S) or with straight teeth sides for torque transfer
free of play (DELTEX-GSS).

The Stromag GE Coupling is a highly-flexible coupling for transmission of high torques. The series covers a nominal torque range from 2000 Nm up to 270000 Nm, in special sizes also up to 450000 Nm. The torque is transmitted from the input side to the output side overcoming single elements in star-shaped arrangement.
The construction of the GE Coupling is particularly compact; it is suitable for diesel engine and electric drives. The elements can be mounted and dismantled radially without necessity to shift the connected machines.

When transmitting torque from a drive shaft to a driven shaft, flexible couplings:
absorb and dampen irregularities in the torque
distribute peak loads
Allow misalignments and offsets between the shafts
Permit some disortions in the mounting beds
Avoid the unwelcome constraints that may occur if a rigid coupling were fitted in the same conditions.
Allow a highter constructions, with wider tolerances, and lower cost.

Lovejoy's S-Flex coupling design is simple, ensuring ease of assembly and reliable performance. No special tools are needed for installation or removal. S–Flex couplings can be used in a wide variety of applications.
Its design is comprised of three parts. Two flanges with internal teeth engage an elastomeric flexible sleeve with external teeth. Each flange is attached to the respective shaft of the driver and driven and torque is transmitted across the flanges through the sleeve. Misalignment and torsional shock loads are absorbed by shear deflection in the sleeve.
In all designs, pre-molded teeth along the diameter of the sleeve engage with teeth of the coupling flanges. No clamps or screws are needed to connect the flanges with the flexible sleeve which securely lock together under torque for smooth transmission of power. All three sleeve materials are highly elastic which permits the S–Flex coupling to protect connected equipment from harmful shock loading, vibration, and shaft misalignment.
The S–Flex coupling from Lovejoy offers combinations of flanges and
sleeves which can be assembled to suit your specific application. Thirteen
sizes are available with torque capabilities that range from 60 in-lb to
72,480 in-lb.
