The new planetary cone disc variators of the patented series VARIO are built in an aluminium die-casted housing in 3 sizes: small, medium and large, respectively for motors of IEC size 63, 71 and 80.
Each VARIO is equipped with filler, level and breather plugs to make it suitable for any mounting position.
VARIO can operate in both directions, input and output shafts rotate in the same direction.
Hand wheel can be fitted to both sides of control box for convenient installation.
The cone discs are made in case hardened bearing steel, to increasethe durability of each VARIO.
VARIO are supplied with mineral lubricant ISO VG 46, with the quantity of oil for positions B3-B5
As a consequence of its operating principles, based on the satellites friction, the appropriate lubrication is essential for the correct duration and efficiency of VARIO.
It is strictly recommended, in addition, to avoid mixing two different oil types. If you change type of oil, make first sure youclean VARIO with appropriate chemical thinner.
All VARIO are supplied with filler, level and breather plugs. Before start-up, you must place the breather plug on the top like in the following pictures.

The Phase Variator is the economical timing mechanism used to adjust the position of various machine components-even while running. Installed between the driven machine and the process which requires timing, the Phase Variator provides a full 360 degree range of position control.
In normal operation, with the control knob stationary, the Phase Variator operates as a 1:1 phase transmission with input and output shafts rotating in the same direction. When a rotation is applied to the control knob, a differential action occurs between the input and output shafts allowing a machine operator to synchronize a production process.
This simple, positive timing device is ideal for more efficient machine set-ups and changeovers. The Phase Variator is the low cost answer to the timing challenges facing today's machine designers.

A mechanical belt variable speed transmission package with modular construction
Available as gearless drives or as a combined motor and mechanical belt/gear variable speed transmission
Six case sizes for motor frames 56 through 250T
Manual handwheel speed changer standard, with options for various remote signed followers
Constructed with Endolube III
Product Overview
The Varidrive is a ‘packaged’ variable speed belt transmission. Packaged means that the
belt transmission, drive motor, and if required, the gear reducer are constructed as a single
power transmission drive assembly. These variable speed drives are employed where the
operating speed of the driven component must vary over a range that can not be provided by a
fixed driver-driven relationship.
Types VAP, VEUP and VEP modules are used with motors to produce gearless Varidrives.
Type VAM modules are used with a motor and gear reducer. A variety of accessory kits are
available for the Varidrive, including a number of remote control kits, number of analog speed
indicators, as well as a solid state speed control that works in conjuction with an actuator called
Varitrol.
Principles of Operation
• The Varidrive provides variable output speed by means of variable pitch sheaves
(Varidiscs) which are moved axially on the driver (motor) and driven shafts
• The driver pitch diameter is established by either manually or automatically positioning
the adjustable motor Varidisc axially on the motor shaft
• Driven pitch diameter is correspondingly and inversely adjusted by means of a spring
loaded adjustable driven Varidisc
