The RapidScan3D is an innovative solution to the need for Ultrasonic NDT of modern engineering structures. Using high speed electronics, an ergonomic scanning arm, and a set of array probes based on patented technology, the RapidScan3D offers true 3D scanning at a fraction of the cost of contour following scanning gantries. the RapidScan3D now offers the capability to scan 3 dimensional structures quickly and accurately using a precision coordinate measurement arm. Using the same high performance ultrasonic system of the RapidScan2 and user friendly software, complex structures can be scanned and evaluated. The RapidScan3D offers a complete and integrated ultrasonic scanning system. When scanning medium to large areas, full A-Scan capture is essential to avoid re-scanning regions during detailed analysis, whilst offline analysis tools improve production throughput.
For many structures, a stock object can be used to generate a model for a region of the structure to be inspected. However for applications where added value is gained from correlating the scan data with the detailed geometry of the part, the RapidScan3D can work with your 3D CAD data. For inspections where CAD data is not available or not required, the RapidScan3D allows stock object parts to be created which in many cases gives an excellent 3D representation of the part to inspect.

The TapTone 100 on-line inspection system incorporates various sensors for detecting defects in cans, bottles and jars. The system has a simple design and is extremely cost effective. A single conveyor mount configuration houses the control electronics and plug-in connectors to accommodate up to seven different inspections. The “all-in-one” design requires minimal line space and no floor space, which is especially important for crowded production lines. A menu driven keypad with 6 keys provides a simple-to-use interface. Self-diagnostics are utilized for continuous monitoring of machine performance. This system can be used as a dud detector but has many other features due to its multi-sensor capabilities.
Proximity Technology - The TapTone 100 utilizes a proximity sensor to measure vacuum in containers by measuring the lid deflection. The proximity sensor produces a continuous magnetic field that monitors the distance to the metal lid and produces a proportional analog voltage. The continuous proximity signal is digitally sampled to produce a merit value of the lid profile. The profile value is then compared to user-set limits. Containers with lid deflection outside these limits are rejected. This technology can be utilized on metal cans, glass jars and bottles.

CALIX series is the first LAP product family for thickness measurement in one single sensor housing. They can be used instead of applications consisting of displacement sensors and measuring frame without the need for temperature control and frequent recalibration.
The alignment of measuring beams is optimised during production at LAP. CALIX sensors don't need complicated adjustments of opposing sensors in the measurement frame. Errors related to alignment won't occur. LAP CALIX sensors can easily be integrated into production lines. They reach over the objects to be measured from the side, without the need for O-frames or bridges.
CALIX sensors are available with different measuring ranges and limb lengths. The limb length limits the distance of the measuring spot from the objects edge. CALIX sensors may also be used for traversing applications, moving in and out or along the edge of the object.
Sensors of CALIX series provide extremely precise results on virtually all materials, independent of limb length and measuring range. They automatically adapt to changing colors and surfaces. Even measurements on shiny aluminium, non-vulcanized black rubber, and soft or sticky materials are possible.

The Case Tracker pressure/vacuum monitoring system is used to test the integrity of a wide variety of food and beverage products. This user friendly system is designed for non-contact, non-destructive, 100% automatic container inspection through a sealed cardboard and/or shrink wrapped case.
The primary function of the Case Tracker is to inspect containers in closed cardboard or shrink-wrapped cases for loss of pressure or vacuum. Any case with a container(s) that fall outside user set limits will be rejected. In many applications, the Case Tracker will detect defects other than low pressure or vacuum. Some examples are gross swollen cans, missing containers, dented cans, missing lids, popped safety buttons, or broken bottles.
There are two configurations from which to choose. The first style is an on-line system, which mounts to an existing conveyor usually located after the case packer system. This system is compact and easy to integrate to an existing conveyor. An optional rejection system is available as well as an optional spray marker system to mark the location of defective containers on the outside of the case for easy identification and rework.
The second configuration is a self-standing system with a six-foot inspection conveyor. A typical application for this system is in the warehouse area. This system may have wheels for easy movement to remote areas of the warehouse. There are optional infeed and exit conveyors for ease of palletizing and depalletizing. The shearography technology is an interferometric test method with which damage or defects can be identified on components under load. This measuring technique even allows detecting deformations of only a few micrometers in size. Already a relatively low component load can thus yield unambiguous measuring results, which are mandatory particularly for NDT testing.
The test object is illuminated with laser light and observed through a CCD camera equipped with the so-called shearing optics. These shearing optics project the object image onto the camera chip twice; each object point is thus represented twice on the CCD chip. When the test object deforms under load, the laser light reflected by the component changes. By superimposing an image showing the unloaded object state with an image taken in the loaded state, the change of an image point can be determined. The optimum test load type (thermal load or pressure and vacuum load) for the individual component depends on the fault type and fault depth and is ideally determined before serial testing by trial measurements using sample components.

Foster-Miller%u2019s CECIL® articulated robots were developed in the late 1980s under contract to the Electric Power Research Institute, Consolidated Edison and Public Service Electric & Gas to provide nuclear environment robotic inspection and cleaning capability within the tube bundle of steam generators used in nuclear power plants.
Using a flexible lance, the teleoperated robot allows access to remote steam generator locations. It uses 10,000 psi water jets to remove hard and soft sludge deposits while the operator remotely controls the operation via video feedback. The robot is installed through an inspection handhole in the generator and moves throughout the lower region of the tube bundle.
CECIL® articulated robots provide nuclear environment robotic visual inspection tools, contaminant sampling and foreign object retrieval in addition to cleaning. All operations are controlled remotely. CECIL® robots are designed to be operated in restricted high radiation environments by personnel in protective clothing.
Systems have been delivered and are currently used in nuclear plants in Japan, Korea, France and Canada as well as in the United States. We team with Westinghouse to provide CECIL® robot services to domestic nuclear utilities.

Foster-Miller performs minimally invasive inspections of oil-filled power transformers with custom-engineered equipment of our own design. Utilities can use this service to diagnose incipient and actual faults in their transformers without undertaking the costly process of draining tens of thousands of gallons of oil and exposing the transformer%u2019s interior to damaging air and moisture.
Although there are many noninvasive methods for testing transformers, a visual inspection offers the most reliable, and often the only, way to evaluate the severity of problems that could result in costly equipment failure.
Our transformer inspection system uses proprietary minimally invasive technology to deliver a broadcast quality video camera and a powerful lighting system to any area inside a suspect transformer. Conventional video inspection systems do not have the lighting necessary to see through service-aged transformer oil, nor are they maneuverable enough to carry themselves over large, unsupported gaps or through difficult, serpentine paths.
We offer the in-oil inspections primarily as a service in the US and Canada in partnership with TJH2b, a well-known analytical laboratory that provides transformer diagnostic expertise to complement our inspection capabilities. We sell inspection systems to foreign clients for whom the service model is not economically viable. We also sell a %u201Cdry%u201D inspection system designed for substation inspection applications.
