Brake principle
this is a multidisk brake wich is activatedby a lack of pressure. The spring exerts a force on the piston, which resses on the fixed and mobile discs, and immobilizes the shaft.

Black Bruin motors are at their best in situations where high torque is required and use of other transmission is not reasonable. Hydraulic transmission does not contain axles allowing the frame structure to provide e.g. higher ground clearance and sharper wheel turn angle.
Starting is soft and motion is smooth even at low speed. On the other hand, vehicles equipped with multi speed Black Bruin motors are capable of reaching top speed exceeding 70 km/h.
The motors are used e.g. as wheel hub motors for agricultural, forestry, road building and mining machines.

Axial piston motors with fixed displacement series AHP-10 are of swash plate design. They are designed for usage in mobile and industrial applications.
Output speed is in proportional relation with input flow and in reverse proportional relation with displacement. Torque increases with the pressure drop and with displacement of motor.
At the pictures No. 2, there is drawn cross sectional view of fixed motor with a shaft supported on two tapered roller bearing. Motor case is closed by rear and front cover. The rear cover also serves for connection of the high-pressure ports. Front cover has an internal side diagonal area with an angle of 18°.
To the front cover is bolted a flange with centering diameter in accord with SAE standard. Tightness of the case around the exiting part of the shaft is protected by the shaft sealing for maximum pressure 0,25 MPa (Intermittent 0,5 MPa.)

New Corrosion Protection Option for Spool Valve Motors.
In response to many requests for HTLS motors suitable for use on food and beverage machinery, Eaton is now able to offer Char-Lynn H, S and T motors with the option of full Nickel plating to the motor housing.
This provides a high standard of corrosion protection and permits the motors to be used in applications where regular fresh water washing occurs and alternative protective paint finishes either cannot be used or are not suitable. Nickel plating is not recommended for marine applications or salt-water washing.
The entire body of the motors undergoes an electrolytic-plating process designed to meet food and beverage industry standards. All standard feature options remain available with the nickel plated motors.
The new option will be of particular benefit to customers who currently use third party sources to plate standard motors, since they will be ready to use and be covered by Eaton's standard warranty.
Additional benefits of spool valve motors include high efficiency, high power-density, infinite bearing life at rated loads, extended shaft seal life, smooth operation, and outstanding economy. Standard Eaton Char-Lynn spool valve motors are used in a wide variety of applications including agricultural equipment, machine tools, conveyors, winches, turf care equipment, and construction equipment, in addition to the food and beverage processing applications for which the new, nickel plated models are intended.

The essential components of series APM external gear motors are an aluminium alloy body and two gearwheels supported by plain bearings.
