Kappa has successfully extended its camera range with Gigabit Ethernet cameras. The GigE CCD cameras allow cable lengths of up to 100m/330ft (CAT5E) and are available with various sensors; in color, monochrome or cooled versions, with megapixel resolution, frame rates of up to 30/90 Fps and „short trigger delay“ (6,75 micro sec.). The Kappa Software Pool offers three different tools: The camera control software KCC, the software development kit (sdk3) for integration into third-party software interfaces, and the application software KIB for standard measurement tasks. Special Kappa features like the camera-internal color processing and the camera-internal signature creation are also available for the GigE camera model range. The Gigabit Ethernet cameras are equipped with the Gigabit Ethernet interface GigE. There is no need for specific interface cards or expensive and complicated frame grabbers. Kappa Gigabit Ethernet Cameras are compatible with standard Gigabit Ethernet hardware. Bit rates of up to 1 Gbit/s are possible. Economic cables can be used (CAT 5e / CAT 6). GigE Vision enables cable lengths of up to 100 m. Progressive scan CCD, true color quality, megapixel resolution, excellent image quality, 12 bit digitization depth and user-friendly software environment characterize the Gigabit Ethernet cameras. The customer can choose between 2/3, 1/1.8 and 1/2” CCD sensors, color or monochrome. The brilliant high fidelity color reproduction is achieved by the camera-internal Kappa color processing in real-time. Gigabit Ethernet cameras are perfect for multiple camera configurations.

The cameras ship in robust industrial casing with a C/CS lens mount and optionally with a trigger and digital I/Os. The color, monochrome and Bayer models are available in VGA, XGA and SXGA resolutions.
The software support of the cameras leaves nothing to be desired: Both programmers and end-users immediately feel at home. Getting started with the cameras is a matter of minutes and integrating them into existing applications takes only a few lines of code. Drivers for "LabView", "Halcon", "DirectX", "Twain" and "WDM" are included. All camera parameters and settings can be set via the shipped software. Furthermore, a number of automatic modes are available, which guarantee optimal image quality in varying light conditions.
The cameras ship with drivers for Windows XP/Visa, the SDK "IC Imaging Control" and "IC Capture". The latter is a powerful end-user application, which allows all cameras parameters to be set, live video to be displayed, singular images and image sequences to be captured.

GigE Vision is a new camera interface standard developed using the Gigabit Ethernet communication protocol. GigE Vision is the first standard to allow for fast image transfer using low cost standard cables over very long lengths. With GigE Vision, hardware and software from different vendors can interoperate seamlessly over GigE connections.
The standard was developed for industry, by a talented group of companies representing every sector of the vision industry. The Automated Imaging Association (AIA) oversees the ongoing development and administration of the standard.
GigE Vision offers many benefits including:
- High bandwidth (1000 Mbps) allows large uncompressed images to be - transferred quickly in real time
- Uncompromised data transfer up to 100 meters in length
- Standard gigabit Ethernet hardware allows single/multiple camera connection to single/multiple computers
- Low cost cables (CAT5e or CAT6) and standard connectors
- Highly scalable to follow the growth of Ethernet bandwidth. As 10GigE becomes mainstream, GigE Vision will be the fastest connection in the industry
- Standard hardware, cables allow easy, low cost integration

MATRIX VISION's mvBlueCOUGAR-P is a compact industrial Gigabit Ethernet camera with a powerful PowerPC processor. The processor makes sure that the image processing takes place at the sensor directly and only the relevant data are transferred. Consequently bandwidth is saved allowing cameras with higher resolutions and frame rates to be used. Furthermore a processing server no longer has to perform low level processing actions. For this reason, the mvBlueCOUGAR-P is suited mainly to applications in the security industry or for industrial inspection, where a multitude of cameras is used and a large amount of data are processed.

Kappa introduces a new vision camera based on our modular high-performance platform with 14-bit digitization. The first model, the Zelos-02150 has a GigE Vision interface and offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080p and a frame rate of up to 30 fps. It fulfills all typical Kappa quality characteristics regarding hardiness and longevity.
The camera features several technical highlights. One of them is the 2/3” Kodak sensor KAI-02150, which supports 1080p and excels with an excellent dynamic range and the best image performance. A further plus is the high-performance GigE Vision interface. This creates a perfect combination of a high transfer rate (1 Gbit/s), a low-priced interface on the PC, inexpensive cabling with thin CAT5e cables up to 100 m (300 feet) and a standardized user-friendly communication protocol. The brilliant visualization of the smallest details with the lowest-contrast is the result of the numerous real-time signal processing functions based on a 14-bit digitization. Among the functions are adjustments of different exposure modes, read-out modes (e.g., binning, partial scan), frame rates, gain and exposure settings, measuring window functions, contrast and edge enhancement functions (e.g., histogram equalization), line and circular line generators and dynamic look-up tables. The color processing offers adjustments for the Bayer filter interpolation, color space transformation and color saturation. The modular camera platform can serve different sensors and signal interfaces and thus can fulfill the requirements for machine vision applications as well as applications in defense, aviation and medical imaging.

Phantom v7.3
The Phantom® v7.3 supplies the blazing speed and high sensitivity needed to record extremely fast events.
Our v7.3 camera now includes a new turbo mode to increase recording speeds for selected windowed resolutions to as high as 500,000 pictures per second with 1 µsecond exposure times.
The monochrome v7.3 provides 14 bit image depth for extended gray scale image quality and light sensitivity. If you select a color camera, you have the opportunity to choose between 24, 36, or 48 bit images.
An extremely fast shutter controls image blur. The v7.3 offers continuously adjustable shutter speeds down to 1 µsec (1/1,000,000 second). This shutter is a true "snap shot," or "global" shutter, functioning at the pixel level, and these sensors are sensitive enough to take advantage of the camera's high speed capabilities.
This Phantom® camera can optionally be configured with the ability to record images in real-time directly from the camera! Phantom® v7.3 camera can be supplied with this optional ability to stream real-time image data to our external massive storage device known as the Image3.

Phantom v10
The Phantom® v10 has established a combination of recording speed and image resolution that will prove difficult for others to match.
The dynamic range and image detail seen in the v10 images provide a sense of realism that has to be seen to be believed. Maybe that is why it is used to provide super slow-motion for sporting events like Major League Baseball, Boxing, and the Super Bowl.
You will be very pleased with the v10's performance on shots in low light or when extremely long lenses are a project requirement.Extreme Dynamic Range® (EDR) to improve picture quality under harsh lighting conditions, auto exposure, and much more are all found on the v10.
The Phantom® v10 offers a recording speed of 480 full frame pictures per second. When reducing the resolution to 1920 x 1080 the speed jumps to almost 1,000 pps, and there are allocations to record at even higher speeds with further decreased image sizes. Shuttering is continuously varaible down to a rapid 2 µsecs (1/500.000 second).
The v10's uniqe enhanced mode allows you to boost the image quality in demanding lighting applications by reducing the maximum frame rate. We give you the power to choose.
By taking advantage of the Phantom®'s flexible triggering capabilities in combination with extended internal memory options, our customers now have the recording time they need for any application.
