| Barcodes and data matrix code are pure fixed code systems. The code is applied to a label (e.g., in the form of a bar code or a 2D matrix code). These labels are scanned / recorded optically according to the reflection principle. The code is then read based on the sequential differences in intensity. Barcodes are read using scanning equipment (laser scanners or CCD technology) and matrix codes using an image recognition process with a camera. Both optical code types can be created with commercially-available printers and are therefore unbeatably inexpensive. |

Independent of the orientation and the number of codes, the high-performance algorithms automatically decode 1D or 2D codes. An optimisation mode allows additional settings to ensure reliable identification of each code. Automatic setting of the exposure time: The sensor characteristics and the segmented lighting can be adapted so that optimum results are achieved even with highly reflective metal surfaces. Nutfield Technology's QuantumScan-30 (QS-30) galvanometer scanners are used to position laser beams fast and accurately over millions of cycles. The limited rotation moving magnet motor is coupled to a highly sensitive position detector. The device is controlled through a PID based servo driver to provide amazingly fast and accurate closed loop control.
NTI's engineers are veterans of the scanning industry and have been designing galvos for two decades. They have been continuously researching ways to improve scanner performance, which has lead to several patents and patent pending designs including our exclusive ceramic rotor designs. The MS-Q Quadrus Imagers are optimized to read bar codes and 2D symbols that use direct part mark (DPM) methods. It is the most aggressive handled imager available for decoding symbols on low contrast substrates such as metal, plastic, rubber, and glass with marking methods such as dot peen and laser/chemical etch.
Optical Options:
- The high resolution version is custom designed to optimize resolution for reading small 2D symbols in direct part mark applications
