OSPrey800 - A revolution in OSP thickness measurement
OSPrey800This instrument measures Organic Solderablity Preservative (OSP) thickness on the individual pads of real-time production boards. The ability to target individual pads allows specific quality control, failure analysis and troubleshooting of the OSP layer. The OSPrey800%u2019s unique non-destructive quality control technique requires neither test coupons nor sample preparation and significantly reduces the time needed to take measurements and operator error.
Other techniques for measuring OSP thickness are either destructive, labor intensive, or expensive. The OSPrey800 utilizes an innovative new technique in which various wavelengths of light are aimed at a sample and the light reflected from the surface of coating and substrate is analyzed to determine coating thickness. Typical thicknesses from 0.035-3µm can be measured and analyzed.

The CANIN+ instrument provides two methods for investigating and assessing the corrosion of steel in concrete.
• Measurement of corrosion potential of the reinforcement
• Measurement of electrical resistivity of reinforced concrete components
The instrument highlights corrosion activity before rust becomes visible.
This early detection can be key in preventing an unanticipated structural failure.
The measurement of the corrosion potentials is performed on the concrete surface with a rod industrial electrode and is non-destructive. On large areas like bridge decks professional wheel electrodes proved to be very useful.
The Windows based professional software CANIN ProVista, developed by Proceq SA, makes it possible to download, present and edit data measured by the CANIN+ half-cell instrument in a fast and easy way. The program generates graphs and diagrams that are the basis for an efficient interpretation.
A low concrete resistivity means a high probability for corrosion of the reinforcement and also a higher corrosion rate.

A Half Cell gauge measures the condition and potential corrosion of rebars and steel structures in concrete. When corrosion occurs the ferric oxide protective layer surrounding the concrete breaks down allowing an electrochemical reaction between the steel and the concrete.
In the half cell test, the reference electrode is passed over the surface of the concrete and the potential voltage difference is recorded. The readings show where corrosion is likely to be or is currently present. Periodic monitoring of the condition of the rebars and metal supporting structures in professional buildings, bridges etc. identifies signs and severity of corrosion - long before there are any physical indications of damage. Thus enabling more accurate forecast of projected lifetime.
Elcometer have three half cell gauges in their range, Elcometer 331˛ Models BH, SH and TH - each combine the Half-Cell technology required to assess potential corrosion of rebar, with the features necessary for any covermeter. Each gauge can be connected to either Cu / CuSO4 (copper / copper sulphate) or Ag / AgCl (silver / silver chloride) half cell electrodes and, by using the on screen menu commands, change the gauge to record covermeter depth measurements.
Combining half cell corrosion potential measurements with depth of cover measurements, in one easy to use gauge, makes the Elcometer 331 models the ideal surveying products of their type in the market today.
Elcometer offer a comprehensive range of concrete inspection equipment to meet all of your requirements.
