Loveland, Colorado, October 2002 — For the first time, an on-line sludge volume index measurement can provide wastewater treatment plant operators early warning of upset conditions. With Hach’s OptiQuant SVI Analyzer, operational decisions can be based on Sludge Volume results that have been determined objectively and accurately.
The analyzer gives operators a reliable, continuous analysis of Sludge Volume without frequent minimal intervention. The in-situ measurement provides accurate analysis by measuring a true representative sample directly in the aeration basin. In addition, the OptiQuant SVI Analyzer saves valuable time with on-line analysis and graphical display of the settling curve. This eliminates the need for manual plotting to determine sludge age and return activated sludge flow rate.
During a measurement cycle, the OptiQuant SVI Analyzer utilizes a sampling vessel that is submerged in the aeration basin. Liquid is purged from the vessel with air from a built-in air compressor. When the sampling vessel is full of air, a valve is opened, allowing the sludge to enter. A sampling orifice allows solids particles and flocs to remain intact within the vessel, without the aid of moving parts. The settling rate and final settled sludge volume are measured with the Infra-Cam™ device inside the sampling vessel. With the addition of an OptiQuant TS-line suspended solids probe, the analyzer calculates the Sludge Volume Index.
The OptiQuant SVI Analyzer is a convenient tool for the continuous monitoring of Sludge Volume and Sludge Volume Index in-situ, with objective, accurate results. |

The very short response time of the COBRIX3 allows quick line start-ups after a change of product. There are no drifts and no delays. Cobrix3 continuously measures °Brix, Diet, CO2, alcohol, temperature, pressure, sugar inversion, extract, original extract, degree of fermentation, oxygen and conductivity. The COBRIX3 provides real-time data which allows quick and effective adjustment of the blender and carbonizer.
Production efficiency is improved by significant savings in syrup and CO2 . Throughout the production run, warning lights, sounds and PC messages give you time to make adjustments to the line before product goes off spec, or before the Cobrix3 multibev stops the production line. Connect Cobrix3 to the network for real-time data monitoring and control from any PC in the plant. Brand-specific settings such as target values, alarm limits, etc. can be stored using the supplied software and recalled for a virtually unlimited number of different beverages. Among many other selectable indications, line start/stop information is displayed. Alarms are indicated optically and acoustically, and by highlighting the corresponding measuring values on the PC display. |

The new Sievers InnovOx Laboratory Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzer can run thousands of diverse, high-TOC samples—including brine and cellulose—with unprecedented uptime. The Sievers InnovOx offers unmatched oxidation robustness, dynamic linear working range, and calibration curve stability for industrial process, wastewater and environmental water samples. It is compliant with EPA, Standards Methods and ASTM regulatory methods.
The tough and reliable Sievers InnovOx uses a patent-pending Super Critical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technique to achieve superior TOC recoveries regardless of organic compounds and particulate impurities in the sample. In addition, this new process removes all oxidation byproducts and sample between each analytical run, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance.
The Analyzer uses an enhanced Non Dispersive Infra Red (NDIR) design, which has no moving parts, to allow superior linear response. The NDIR has a dynamic detection range of 0.5 to 50,000 ppm, and is capable of measuring Total Carbon (TC), Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC.
The Sievers InnovOx has a Web interface for easy, remote monitoring, an intuitive touch-screen display, and three convenient USB ports. The InnovOx is easy to set up and operate and requires no external carrier gas. The InnovOx is ready to run immediately, as it needs no prior furnace heat-up or stabilization. Maintenance is minimal, keeping total cost of ownership low. Preventive maintenance and calibration are only needed every 6 months. |

Ever more stringent legislative regulations witin the water and wastewater industry are placing increased demands on process orientated system technology. Especially in the wastewater treatment the on-line measurement of Nitrogen and Phosphorus parameters play an important role because of continuous monitoring and optimization of the performance of a biological purification process.
WTW’s answer is the multiparameter system TresCon.
TresCon is a modular analysis system for continuous measurement of analytical parameters like e.g. Ammonium, Nitrite, Nitrate / SAC, total Nitrogene or Phosphate and total Phosphate. This system based on a central controller and one or several autonomous modules is built up on a functional structure which constitutes a "analytical platform" of highest flexibility.
Due to this modularity this system assures a continuous and very reliable operation which constitutes a new dimension with respect to performance, flexibility, reliability and cost efficiency. Additional analyzer modules and parameters are easily accomplished by the user

| ”On-site” means measuring Ammonium and Phosphate in the tank. The main advantage is that short sample paths give quick, undistorted results. This is the idea behind the new digital analyser generation from HACH LANGE—AMTAX sc and PHOSPHAX sc. The concept is a practical, logical extension of the proven AMTAX and PHOSPHAX series. It combines all the advantages: the high precision of an analyser and the simplicity of a probe. |
