MFI-10 Melt Flow Indexer
(Tests to BS2782 Part 7: Method 720A, ISO 1133 and ASTM D 1238 Methods A and B)
The MFI-10 is an intelligent, modular system, which offers flexibility of testing and increased automation, especially when used in conjunction with the optional easy to use NEXYGEN data analysis software. The main base unit can be configured for either manual or fully automatic testing. For those who use the same machine for a given test, a standard test set-up may be saved and password protected. Those doing several different tests may save up to 10 set-ups and recall them by name. Operators need not be experienced, the backlit LCD gives written instructions at each step with audible prompts at the correct time and results calculated and displayed at the end of the test. Busy laboratories will save time and improve health and safety by automating the whole process with the addition of the optional displacement transducer and weight loading device.

The oxidation stability of biodiesel can easily be determined with the 873 Biodiesel Rancimat from Metrohm, a modern and reliable instrument with a 3 years’ warranty. In addition to reliable hardware and easy operation, it offers all the comfort to be expected from a PC-controlled instrument.
The method: oxidation stability according to EN 14112
The determination of the oxidation stability according to EN 14112 is an accelerated oxidation test. The sample is held in a sealed reaction tube at a constant temperature of 110 °C while a continuous flow of air is passed through the sample. The fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in the sample are oxidized to peroxides as the primarily oxidation products. After some time, the fatty acids are completely decomposed into the secondary oxidation products. In addition to volatile organic compounds, these are low-molecular organic acids, mainly formic and acetic acids. An air flow transports them to a measuring vessel containing distilled water as the absorption solution. |

The main advantage of light-curing systems is their fast reaction time. Monomer solutions which are mostly free of solvents can be cured within only a few seconds and already at low temperatures. A combination of thermal and light curing reactions is often applied to dual cure adhesives or paints.
The NETZSCH Photo-DSC 204 F1 Phoenix® works in the temperature range from
-100°C to 200°C. The instrument has a vacuum-tight measuring cell and the purge gas control is regulated by a mass flow controller (MFC).
For our Photo-DSC 204 F1 Phoenix®, most standard industry or laboratory lamps for cationic or radically curing material systems can be used. For the analysis of adhesives, we recommend the DELOLUX04, from the DELO company.
The modified automatic lid-lifting device of the DSC 204 F1 Phoenix® guarantees a defined distance between the two light conductors and the sample and reference.
This achieves high reproducibility of measurement results.
For your normal DSC analyses above 200°C, a retrofit of the standard lid-lifting device is possible, or the manual lid can also be used without problems.
For high sample throughput or for repeat measurements, use of our Automatic Sample Changer (ASC) for up to 64 samples is recommended. |

| Rapid plasticity is one of the basic tests used in the natural rubber industry, and is the measurement of compression of a specimen of known thickness at a known temperature under a predetermined load for a known time. |
|
| The porosity of a material affects its physical properties and, subsequently, its behavior in its surrounding environment. The term "porosimetry" is often used to encompass the measurements of pore size, volume, distribution, density, and other porosity-related characteristics of a material. The adsorption and permeability, strength, density, and other factors influenced by a substance's porosity determine the manner and fashion in which it can be appropriately used. |
