Rotas programmable rotational speed monitor
The Rheintacho rotas programmable rotary speed monitor is a pulse value system – its primary application is to monitor rotary speed and velocity based on period duration measurement. If the upper or lower thresholds are exceeded, it actuates relay outputs according to the set commands. There is also a version with a scalable current output for analog measured values.
The rotas rotational speed monitor not only stands out because of its wide range of freely programmable functions and fast, flexible signal processing; it is also very easy to use, is simply and compactly designed, and has only six controls.
The integrated LC display clearly shows measurement and status values, as well as dialogs for programming.
The rotas rotational speed monitor has a huge variety of applications. It monitors combustion engines in power plants and ships, as well as in gas, water and wind turbines, and can also be used for process monitoring in paper, foil or textile production. Drive units of machine tools and processing centers can also be excellently monitored with the rotas rotational speed monitor.
The rotas rotational speed monitor takes on an important role in complex systems. Working independently, it takes the load off the higher level control system. If problems occur, it triggers an alarm function via its relay outputs. In shipping applications, the rotas acts as a secondary safety circuit to shut down the engines in emergencies. The rotas is approved as an emergency stop system by Germanischer Lloyd (GL). |

In some critical bolting applications, factors such as friction or bolt/joint geometry are such that the measurement of applied torque alone will not provide the degree of accuracy necessary to control the preload within the required limits. Likewise, many critical applications also demand that bolt preload be monitored over the service life of the fastener as part of a predictive or preventative maintenance program. In these applications, ultrasonic measurement of fastener elongation and/or load has frequently proven to be the most accurate, reliable and cost effective solution.
Ultrasonic measurement of bolt preload is made possible by introducing a sonic pulse at one end of the fastener and accurately measuring the time of flight (TOF) required for the echo to return from the opposite end; using material constants, the USM-II converts this TOF into an "ultrasonic length" of the fastener, providing a baseline from which future measurements will be made. When the fastener is tightened, the TOF increases and the USM-II will again utilize material constants to eliminate the effects of stress and temperature variations on sound velocity, providing an accurate elongation or load measurement.
The USM-II uses state of the art hardware and software to achieve these measurements with maximum automation, and minimizes the need for operator interpretation. Offering digital recordation and transmission of data, as well as calibrated analog signal output the USM-II provides a complete system for measurement, recordation, and control of fastener tension in the most demanding applications. |

X-Ray Fluorescence Gauges are used to measure coatings containing quantities of metal or heavy elements, on plastic or paper substrates. The sensor energy level is selected for the application, such that the photons striking the material cause it to fluoresce. The returned fluorescence energy provides the information necessary to precisely calculate the coatweight. This selective technique has significant advantages in simplicity of operation, accuracy, and reduced equipment costs.
