The highly sensitive vibration sensors of our GEO series offer a surprisingly high sensitivity over a wide frequency range down to 8Hz (4Hz). They are especially suitable for detecting vibrations in machines and electronic circuitry or in the working environment, as well as monitoring compliance with (official) exposure limits.
In addition to regular monitoring, thanks to their high sensitivity, these probes can also be used as geofone to measure ground motion (displacement).
In conjunction with our SPECTRAN 50xx series spectrum analyzers and our free PC analyzer-software "LCS", the entire frequency range between 8Hz (4Hz) and 1kHz can be analyzed, monitored and documented. Long-term recording for days or even weeks is not a problem at all, either. These sensors are equipped with a 1m SMA cable (similar with the one used with our test-antennas), allowing direct connection to the high-sensitivity signal input of our SPECTRAN EMC-Analyzer.

The basis for the QG sensors is a micro machined capacitive sensing element in silicium (MEMS). Despite the high accuracy this element has a very high shock resistance; a sensor with a 1G full scale sensitivity can withstand shocks up 20.000G ! The capacitance levels are transformed with an integrated amplifier to analogue voltage levels. A range of I/O configurations are possible with the modular setup of complementary circuits inside the sensor. All QG sensors benefit from the robust QUADRO® (PDF) housing.

Test and measurement accelerometers are generally characterized by smaller size than industrial units and typically use a 10-32 co-axial connector to connect to measurement equipment. While they are sometimes used in industrial environments for machinery vibration collection, they are usually used in laboratories and similar environments. Modal and structural testing are the typical applications for test and measurement sensors.

Description: The MiniSense 100 is a low cost cantilever-type vibration sensor loaded by a mass to offer high sensitivity at low frequencies. Pins are designed for easy installation and are solderable. Horizontal and vertical mounting options are offered. The active sensor area is shielded for improved RFI/EMI rejection. Rugged, flexible PVDF sensing element withstands high shock overload. Sensor has excellent linearity and dynamic range, and may be used for detecting either continuous vibration or impacts. The mass may be modified to obtain alternative frequency response and sensitivity selection (consult factory). The MiniSense 100 acts as a cantilever-beam accelerometer. When the beam is mounted horizontally, acceleration in the vertical plane creates bending in the beam, due to the inertia of the mass at the tip of the beam. Strain in the beam creates a piezoelectric response, which may be detected as a charge or voltage output across the electrodes of the sensor. The sensor may be used to detect either continuous or impulsive vibration or impacts. For excitation frequencies below the resonant frequency of the sensor, the device produces a linear output governed by the "baseline" sensitivity. The sensitivity at resonance is significantly higher. Impacts containing high frequency components will excite the resonance fre-quency, as shown in the plot above (response of MiniSense 100 to a single half-sine impulse at 100 Hz, of amplitude 0.9 g). The ability of the sensor to detect low frequency motion is strongly influenced by the external electrical circuit.

VibraBoss 100 Vibration Monitor
A robust, versatile vibration sensor for continuous monitoring of rotating equipment such as large motors, fans, conveyors, etc. Simple to install and monitor; 2-wire hookup, 10-30VDC supply, signal powered, 4-20mA analog output proportional to average vibration velocity, or optionally, displacement. Designed for monitoring equipment with rotational speeds between 200 and 2000 RPM. For rotor speeds less than 500 rpm, "displacement" is generally more significant; at speeds about 2000 RPM, "acceleration" is the parameter of choice.
A unique and important feature of the VibraBoss 100 is that it responds to "jerk" - technically the third derivative of displacement with respect to time (y''') - rather than acceleration (y''). This makes it uniquely insensitive to the earth's gravitational field, thus simplifying installation by avoiding precise alignment usually needed for other acceleration (y'') based transducers. The electronics contained in the VibraBoss*100 integrates the jerk (y''') signal and generates the desired velocity (y' ) or displacement (y) output as a 4-20mA signal. The 4-20mA signal can be monitored externally with any computer monitoring system, chart recorder, or by an optional stand alone threshold detector. Typically, an increase in the vibration signal to 0.25 in/sec can trigger a maintenance alarm, while a level of 0.5 in/sec can initiate automatic shutdown.
For security, install one sensor horizontally at each bearing. A control box with power supply, set-point relays, meter, warning strobe and alarm horn for monitoring one or more points can be supplied.

The most popular and environmentally friendly motion and vibration sensors are the AU2400 and AU2401 series. Being gold plated, they have a superior contact surface.
A new version of motion and vibration sensors is the AG2400 and AG2401. For these the gold plating has been replaced by silver for less critical applications in order to reduce cost.
The motion or vibration sensors are %u201Cchange of state%u201D sensors; that is the contacts may be open or closed in any position but upon movement or vibration the contacts will change state intermittently.
The contact capacity is 24 Vac/dc, at 0.20 amps max and 5VA max.
Several different electrode configurations exist for hole and surface mounting.

The SOLID transducers are piezo-electric accelerometers of compression type, each individually tuned. Enhanced electronics and improved ambient characteristics deliver excellent performance in a very large area of applications.
The SOLID transmitters provide a 4-20 mA output signal proportional to the vibration velocity, across its frequency range. The output signal can be transmitted to common process control systems like PLC, DCS and SCADA. The transmitters operate using power from any standard 4-20 mA loop. No additional power is necessary.
Features of the transmitters are unique micro controller design and calibration data stored in the sensor. The measuring range is 0 - 25 mm/s and the frequency range 2-1000 Hz.
The SOLID transducers and transmitters all come with top connector for fast and easy installation. A special SOLID transducer with side connector is also available for use in rough industrial environments where moist and water may cause equipment problems.
The SOLID transducers and transmitters are designed to withstand the rigors of industrial environments. Stainless, acid proof steel housings, case isolation and hermetic sealing make them very robust.
