Brushes are critical for the operation of the revolving electrical machinery. This graphite component helps to carry current while ensuring contact between the static and rotating parts of the motor.
Brushes are used in various types of machine (motors, generators, alternators) found in various areas of the industry (iron and steel, mining, power plants, wind turbines, etc.), transportation (rail, aviation, mass transit) and automobile sectors, as well as in domestic applications (household appliances, hand-held power tools).
Brushholders guide the brush and keep it permanently in contact with the revolving part of the motor.

With a capacity of up to 32A/15 kW, TeSys U consists of :
One 45 mm power base (1): 2 ratings, reversing or non-reversing, circuit-breaker function and built-in interference suppression
One clip-on control unit, from a choice of 3: Standard CU : protection against overloads and short-circuits/Expandable CU: + alarm and fault differentiation/ Multifunction CU (2) : realtime control of motor load, local or remote diagnostics and parameter setting
One clip-on automation control module, from a choice of 3 :(3): Modbus, CANopen, AS-Interface et Profibus DP, Ethernet, DeviceNet, Fipio, Interbus S via Advantys STB le module or a simple parallel link
Two optional 45 mm power functions: limiter-isolator(4) and changeover relay (5)

ASTAT%u2122 Solid State Reduced Voltage
GE offers 3 lines of ASTAT solid state reduced voltage starters. The ASTAT SD is a line of compact, high performance three phase starters, available to 25hp @ 460v. The SD is a full functional soft starter with complete starting/stopping control and fault diagnostics. The ASTAT IBP Plus is a line of bypass solid state starters featuring a fully rated bypass contactor. These starters are rated up to 300HP @ 460v. The design is completely wired allowing quick, simple installation into either new or exisxting installations as a replacement for traditional starters. Bypass contactors are a must for enclosed installations where free air movement is not possible. The ASTAT CD Plus is the most full featured starter in the ASTAT lineup. Parameters include soft start voltage ramp, kick-start, current limiting, an energy saving feature, thermistor input, soft stop, pump control, DC injection breaking, communications, jog/slow speed and tachometer feedback.

It offers ceramic (CIM) and metallic (MIM) injection molding components under the maxon ceramic brand name.
