Accumulation conveyors are used to temporarily store products in place until receiving a release signal. They are used in numerous industrial applications, including machine feeds or temporary storage before shipment. These conveyors are generally found in either roller or chain conveyor configuration. There are both variable pressure and zero pressure systems.
Used to temporarily store goods within a system, conveying systems have many industrial applications. These include feeding machines, loading, sorting, taping, strapping, palletizing and preparation.
Minimum pressure conveyors transport products with almost no contact. The conveyor can stop a package in transit, but to prevent damage back pressure is kept to a minimum.
With zero-pressure conveyors, when a product is stopped, an optical sensor sends a signal to the upstream zone. When the next load moves into this zone, the drive belt is lowered away from the tread rollers, causing the product to stop until released. When any product is removed, all others behind this zone move forward in sequence.
The application will dictate the choice of conveyor and pressure to be applied to the system.
