The Microchip Technology Inc. MCP355X devices are 2.7V to 5.5V low-power, 22-bit delta-sigma A/D converters. The devices offer output noise as low as 2.5 µVrms with a total unadjusted error of less than 10 ppm. The family exhibits less than 6 ppm integral non-linearity (INL) error, 3 µV offset error, and 2 ppm full scale error. The MCP355X devices provide high accuracy and low noise performance for applications where sensor measurements such as pressure, temperature, and humidity are performed. With the internal oscillator and high oversampling rate, minimal external components are required for high accuracy applications. The fully differential analog inputs make it compatible with a wide variety of sensor and measurement applications. The MCP355X devices operate from -40°C to +125°C and are available in the space-saving 8-pin MSOP and SOIC packages.

The QTouch devices are charging a sense electrode of unknown capacitance to a known potential. The electrode is typically a copper area on a printed circuit board. The resulting charge is transferred into a measurement circuit. By measuring the charge after one or more charge-and-transfer cycles, the capacitance of the sense plate can be determined.

The MCP3421 is a single channel low-noise, high accuracy delta-sigma A/D converter with differential inputs and up to 18 bits of resolution in a small SOT-23-6 package. The on-board precision 2.048V reference voltage enables an input range of ±2.048V differentially. The device uses a two-wire I2C™ compatible serial interface and operates from a single power supply ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V. The MCP3421 device performs conversions at rates of 3.75, 15, 60 or 240 samples per second depending on user controllable configuration bit settings using the two-wire I2C™ compatible serial interface. This device has an onboard programmable gain amplifier (PGA). User can select the PGA gain of x1, x2, x4, or x8 before the analog-to-digital conversion takes place. This allows the MCP3421 device to convert a smaller input signal with high resolution. The device has two conversion modes: (a) Continuous mode and (b) One-Shot mode. In One-Shot mode, the device enters a low current standby mode automatically after one conversion. This reduces current consumption greatly during idle periods. The MCP3421 device can be used for various high accuracy analog-to-digital data conversion applications where ease of use, low power consumption and small footprint are major considerations.

National's Analog to Digital converters employ a new breed of sigma-delta architecture: continuous time sigma-delta (CT∑Δ). The architecture provides high resolution at MHz speeds with significantly improved power consumption efficiency compared to pipelined A/D converters.
The National CT∑Δ ADC is self-clocked. The integrated clock on our A/D converters eliminates the need for expensive, difficult to design clock circuits. We have designed our CT∑Δ ADCs on a true mixed signal CMOS process. This (the CT∑Δ converter also) enables the integration of extra signal path components like input low noise amplifiers (LNA) & programmable gain amplifiers (PGA) and lower overall system costs.

The AIC1845 is a micropower charge pump DC/DC converter that produces a regulated 5V output. The input voltage range is 2.7V to 5.0V. Extremely low operating current (13uA typical with no load) and a low external-part count (one 0.22uF flying capacitor and two small bypass capacitors at VIN and VOUT ) make the AIC1845 ideally suitable for small, battery-powered ap-plications.
The AIC1845 operates as a PSM (Pulse Skip-ping Modulation) mode switched capacitor volt-age doubler to produce a regulated output and features with thermal shutdown capability and short circuit protection.
The AIC1845 is available in a 6-pin SOT-23 package.

The AIC1579 is a high-power, high-efficiency voltage-mode DC/DC controller for motherboard VI/O power supply applications. Designed to drive an N-channel MOSFET in a standard buck topology, the AIC1579 features a high voltage CMOS output driver, short-circuit protection, and 8-pin package.
An external 4-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) can be used along with the AIC1579 to adjust the output voltage from 2.0V to 3.5V in 0.1V increments. Table 1 on the following page specifies the corresponding output voltage for 16 combinations of DAC inputs as in the typical application circuit.
The 200KHz switching frequency allows for using small external components while maintaining high conversion efficiency. The 11MHz bandwidth and 6V/uS slew rate of the error amplifier ensures high converter bandwidth and fast transient response.
The AIC1579 provides adjustable overcurrent and short-circuit protections by sensing the output current across the on resistance of the external N-channel MOSFET rather than an external low value sense resistor.
The AIC1579L provides lower reference voltage (1.30V) than the default (2.00V, AIC1579) for lower VOUT requirement.

The AIC1638 is a high efficiency step-up DC/DC converter for applications using 1 to 4 NiMH battery cells. Only three external components are required to deliver a fixed output voltage of 2.7V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 4.5V or 5V. The AIC1638 starts up from less than 0.9V input with 1mA load. Pulse Frequency Modulation scheme brings optimized performance for applications with light output loading and low input voltages. The output ripple and noise are lower compared with the circuits operating in PSM mode.
The PFM control circuit operating in 100KHz (max.) switching rate results in smaller passive components. The space saving SOT-23, SOT-89 and TO-92 packages make the AIC1638 an ideal choice of DC/DC converter for space conscious applications, like pagers, electronic cameras, and wireless microphones.
