PRAS1: Contact-Free 360° Angle Sensor in Ultra-Compact M-12 Housing
ASM GmbH sets the new benchmark for angular position sensors with the new development of a magnetic angle sensor in a very compact M12 housing. The PRAS1 sensor provides absolute position measurement over full 360° sensing range and is part of the successful POSIROT® family of magnetic angular sensors. With only a 1/2 inch diameter and overall length of less than 2 inches, this small sensor saves space and can be installed in the tightest locations.
The contact-free and wear-free angular measurement of 0° to 360° is achieved by using a position magnet. PRAS1 has a typical resolution of 0.1° and yields an analog signal through the use of a D/A converter. Three different analog outputs are available: 4-20 mA, 0.5-4.5 V and 0.5-10V. The industrial housing is rated up to IP68.
With its dependable and rugged design, the PRAS1 angle sensor is well suited for angle monitoring in a wide variety of heavy duty applications such as factory automation equipment, variable valve controls, mobile working machines, etc.

Gill angle position sensors are ideal for monitoring angular position in applications where high dither life of the angle sensor is essential. All Gill angle sensors use inductive technology to sense the position of a metallic object which is mounted to the application. There is no contact between the sensor and the moving part which gives infinite dither life.
Gill angle sensors are fully sealed with no internal moving parts, ideal for applications subject to extreme environments where grime, moisture and vibration are factors.
All of the angle sensors below are capable of monitoring 0-45 and can be configured to operate over the exact measurement range required, giving the highest possible accuracy for each application.
Sensors suitable for Angular position applications are shown below. Please select the sensor which best suits your application to view technical specifications, dimension details and application ideas.

Flat, wear-free and hermetically sealed: Sensofoil ® membrane potentiometers from Hoffmann + Krippner are ultra-flat and very accurate linear and rotary position sensors. In comparison to mechnical potentiometers, Sensofoil ® offers significant cost advantages as well as a much longer lifecycle.
Due to their flat design of 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) to 1 mm (0.04 in.) and their simple adaptation to customer requirements, Sensofoil ® membrane potentiometers from Hoffmann + Krippner are the ideal solution for restricted installation conditions.
Standard elements of 50 mm to 500 mm are available, as well as very favourably priced customer-specific variations. In particular the good repeat accuracy, the easy to achieve redundancy and the problem-free integration into new and existing designs represent decisive advantages.
Sensofoil ® follows the shape and function of the specific application: linear, circular or customer-specific shapes are available, also available with non-contact connection (Sensofoil ® Magnet).
Depending on various parameters, the service life comprises 1 million operations to 60 million operations and the repeat accuracy 1 mm to 10 µm. All Sensofoil ® standard products are sealed to IP 65/NEMA 4X, enhanced sealing is available as well.
Features
• Extremely flat membrane foil potentiometer
• Can be operated by hand (input) or wiper (tap)
• Simple adjustment to customer design
Composition
• Adhesive film, selection according to requirement
• Basic membrane with potentiometer resistance
• Spacers between upper and lower membrane
• Collector membrane as wiper tap for hand or wiper actuation

The Coudoint wire wound potentiometers have a high accuracy (linearity up to ± 0,05 %), a high reliability and a long rotational life.
They are used in a wide range of industrial applications and in railway applications.
10 standard models are split in 3 sizes and 4 classes differing in the accuracy level, with:
- power ratings of 1 watt, 3 watts or 6 watts
- linearity from 1 % to ± 0,05 %
- temperature ranges up to - 55 to + 155 °C
- ohmic values from 200 ohms to 108 kilo-ohms
These potentiometers are constructed with:
- high-accuracy, low-temperature coefficient windings
- critical parts (slider, slip ring) made in precious metal alloys
- a specific wiper technology with a double triangular arm, and redundant internal connections on some models for maximum reliability
- numerous options: special variation laws, electrical and/or mechanical travel, intermediary taps, terminal wires, shaft design, housing, etc.
Multiple-units potentiometers are achieved by combining several units.
Each potentiometer is supplied at the required ohmic value in the range of feasible values.
Special models can be designed for specific needs. Our team will be happy to help you choose the solution that best fits your problem: Please contact us.

The semiconductive reluctance elemental device (single crystal InSb) of high sensitivity was designed for the noncontact potentiometers.
Excellent characteristics by matching with the magnetic circuitry are exhibited.
There is the following advantage because it is the contact-less structure that a magnet was combined with the reluctance elemental device unlike slide wire potentiometer.
- Long life time because a resistor isn't worn away.
- Low torque because a shaft is held by the ball bearing.
- Mechanical response is excellent and electric response exceeds the mechanical response fully.
The angle detection of ± 50° is possible.
LP05M series is suitable for the high reliability use because a temperature compensation circuit is built in.
THose potentiometer are used for :
- Paper thickness measurement for ATM and OCR.
- String tension or Tape tension controller
- Angle measurement of valve
- Level detection of fluid
- Rotation angle measurement of servomotor
