Beam couplings

How to choose this product

beam coupling

A beam, or helical coupling is a flexible, elastic coupling. It transmits torque between two imperfectly aligned shafts while damping shocks and vibrations. Its one or more helical grooves render it more torsionally flexible than a metal bellows. Its design often favors a particular rotational direction.

Applications

Beam couplings are used wherever torque must be transmitted between two imperfectly aligned shafts while damping shocks and vibrations.

How to choose

Choice of coupling will depend on:
- Torque and speed to be transmitted
- Shaft misalignment
- Load type: requiring torque fluctuation compensation (flexible elastic absorption) or perfectly synchronized (flexible, no-twist coupling)
- Size, available space, noise, disassembly
- Environment, temperature, other external factors
