The FT45 model is a milling-boring machine with movable column, which is equipped with two independent units:
1.a common unit for all versions, consisting of a ram and a column, which has two controlled independent longitudinal motions;
2.a cross travel unit, which is located in right-angle position to the first unit, available in two versions, i.e. with fixed table (FT45TF) and with rotary table (FT45TG).
The machine structures are made of Italian Meehanite cast-iron and have been subject to a stress relieving treatment. The system utilizes modern electronical technologies so to ensure long lifetime and high reliability of the mechanical and electronical system.
The large dimensioning and the installed power rates of the machine permit machining of big parts. The control system and the electronic and hydraulic axes-compensation systems permit highest accuracy.
Furthermore, there is the possibility to equip the machine with an automatic tool-changer and a pallet-changer. The wide range of special accessories increase the flexibility and versatility of the machine for all requirements of the customers.

The machine structures are made of Italian Meehanite cast-iron and have been subject to a stress relieving treatment. The system utilizes modern electronical technologies so to ensure long lifetime, high reliability of the mechanical and electronical system and high accuracy features.
The MAF45 model has to be considered a universal machine due to its controlled axes, four of the linear and one of the rotary type, for the TG version. The capability of machining more or less complex workpieces reduces considerably the number of work setups and therefore the machine standstill.
Furthermore, there is the possibility to equip the machine with an automatic tool-changer and a pallet-changer. The wide range of special accessories increase the flexibility and versatility of the machine for all requirements of the customers. This makes the MAF45 machine ideal for every kind of operation.

The traveling-column or 3D machine is ideal for machining of large-size parts clamped in stationary fixtures. Work pieces with overall sizes of 3.5 m in height and 25 m in length clamped on suitable floor plates can be machined across their surface and five-sided machining is ensured by docked milling heads.

The Pedestal Boring Bar is designed for on-site line boring and remachining of seats and sealing areas of control valves. By mounting on the top of a valve, the machine achieves a total stroke of 23" and is suitable for cutting diameters up to 15".
The machine consists of a geared head variable speed drive, with a mounting plate, to accommodate either pneumatic or hydraulic drive motors. The powerful motor provides plenty of torque through a set of bevel gears that interconnect to the spindle. Automatic spindle feed is supplied by a reversible and variable rate servo feed gearbox. The spindle is made from a precision ground and polished chromed 4140 bar, assuring maximum strength. Precision ball bearings are used to insure smooth operation and precision cutting. In addition to the ball bearings, Bronze dampener bearings give added stability to the design.
A fixture assembly can be provided to mount the machine on many different styles of valves. The valve mounting fixtures generally mount to the flange of a valve using the existing stud locations.
In most cases, customers save time and money when welded-in valves can remain in place and the repair can be completed without costly disassembly. Our portable boring bar is just the tool to repair them in-place.

Spindle or Ram Headstock
Two versions of floor-type boring mills are available, the FT and FTR Series. The FT is equipped with a standard boring mill live spindle. The FTR has a collinear ram in addition to the live spindle.

The choices do not end at the headstock. The modular design of Giddings & Lewis boring mills offers plenty of selections allowing manufacturers to configure the machine to the job. Choose from various tables or floor plates, X and Y axis travels, controls and attachments.
Large Capacity HBM Designed for Productivity
With 4 to 12 meters (13 to 40 feet) of X-Axis travel and 2 to 3.5 meters (6.5 to 11.5 feet) of Y-Axis travel, the FT and FTR Series has ample capacity for the largest parts.
