The Positorq® brakes use multiple disc oil shear technology with a continual supply of cooling and lubricating fluid like all other Force Control units. The main difference is that the Positorq® Brake is a constant slip device. It is normally force lubricated for smooth accurate torque control over the entire speed range, even to 0 RPM. Tension torque is transmitted through the viscous shear of the fluid between the friction surfaces.
Torque is proportional to air or hydraulic pressure supplied to the piston. Teflon piston liners produce smooth controllable piston movement for precise control and quick brake response.
Web tension control and dynamometer (dyno) brakes are essentially energy absorbers. Rotary motion is transformed through the brake to heat, so a critical function of the brake is its ability to dissipate heat. In the Positorq® brake, fluid is pumped through the brake shaft to furnish a continuous supply of fluid between the friction surfaces. The fluid lubricates the surfaces at the point of engagement, and removes engagement heat. The fluid is then circulated through a chillers unit and cooled fluid is returned to the Positorq® brake. |

| Posidyne® clutch/brakes transmit torque by shearing automatic transmission fluid between multiple friction discs. The fluid absorbs the heat of engagement and dissipates it through the housing. The recirculating fluid minimizes wear, resulting in exceptionally long service life. Oil-shear operation provides a controllable, cushioned engagement that is smoother, quieter and more accurate than dry friction units. |

The Model HC or HCD clutches are designed to be used in either an end of shaft or through shaft mounting configuration. Their compact size makes these units ideal for incorporating within a gear housing. Multiple speed transmissions use a variety of these units to effect fixed mesh speed changes, or they may be used as a stand alone device for disconnect service.
|
|
The Posidyne® clutch/brake is designed for start/stop applications. Oil shear technology combined with advanced friction materials deliver smooth, accurate engagements., excellent positioning accuracy and repeatability, and superior thermal capability. A multiple friction disc design provides high torque capacity in a low inertia package. The Posidyne® clutch/brake also delivers long service life with low maintenance for applications where downtime is critical. Totally enclosed rugged housings provide protection against hostile environments.

Their compact size makes these units ideal for incorporating within a gear housing. Multiple speed transmissions use a variety of these units to effect fixed mesh speed changes, or they may be used as a stand alone device for disconnect service.
All units incorporate provisions for forced oil cooling allowing high energy engagements to be made without causing themal distress within the disc pack. Cooling oil is introduced from an external supply through axial holes provided in the shaft.
Marine main propulsion forward/reverse or disconnect service, industrial winch disconnects, conveyor manufacturer or mill soft-starts, and multi-speed transmissions are but a few of the applications for the model HC/HCD oil immersed clutches. |

The name for Wichita's ModEvo tension control professional brake is derived from 'modular' and 'evolutionary', terms that describe it perfectly. Modular - because braking systems to suit diverse tensioning applications can be assembled from a minimal number of modules common to the entire ModEvo range. Evolutionary - because continuous development of new materials, improved design and manufacturing techniques have enabled Wichita to develop ModEvo to match all customers' tension needs at affordable cost
The advantages of the new ModEvo brake lie in the versatility of the modular system, ensuring that the requirements of a wide range of professional printing and converting unwind tension applications can be met from just a handful of parts common to the ModEvo range. This in turn brings cost benefits, as users can choose just the options they require and add to or upgrade these as their needs change, while carrying a minimum of spare parts.

| The magnetic DC professional shoe industrial brakes are spring set and electrically released. The brake is set when 230 VDC power is removed from the brakes coil(s). The type TM brakes electrical mechanism consists of one or two DC magnets. As power is introduced to the coils it creates an electro-magnetic field that brings the coils together to release the brake. Cutting power to the coils allows the spring to extend back to its normal state and sets the brake. Shunt or series coils are available and rated for continuous or intermittent duty ratings. We also offer single point adjustment on brakes 8 inches in wheel diameter or larger. This speeds up the brake installation and shoe lining wear adjustment by a single point adjusting feature. Brake wheel diameters of 41/2" to 30" are available, and are AISE rated. Rectifiers are available for AC operation. |

Explosion proof single disc Brakes - EEx Line
The EEX LINE is comprised of spring-applied single-disc brakes with explosion protection for use in potentially explosion hazards locations. The flame proofed spring applied brake is suitable for use in
underground mines where there is a danger of firedamp. Explosion proofed spring-applied brakes are characterised by the fact that all components which may ignite explosive mixtures are placed in an enclosure designed to withstand the specified test pressure and to prevent any mixtures outside the enclosure from being affected by the explosion. The brakes are corrosion protected. The hand release
feature fitted to the brake allows the braking effect to be neutralised manually.
