Applications: Typical applications serviced by the Advance Pump include
laser coolers, filtration systems, deionized water transfer, waste water reclamation,
pressure spray systems, fountains, plating chemical transfer and
recirculation, fume scrubbers, pollution control equipment, and transfer of
chemical process fluids.
Design: The Advance Pump is molded out of high-quality glass-filled Noryl®,
which gives it many advantages. It has good resistance to most acids, alkalis
and inorganics. Noryl® has excellent tensile strength, very low water absorption,
and a continuous temperature rating of 194° F.
We also offer the Advance Pump line in polypropylene. The design of the
pump, coupled with the chosen resins, produces a strong, durable, versatile
unit. When used with the patented Impenatra® seal, the fluid pumped does
not contact any metal parts. This allows it to properly handle many applications
at a fraction of the cost of exotic alloys.

Wilfley's Model HD pump is designed for severe-duty applications including high concentrations of solids.
The HD pump offers large diameter impellers for low speed operation and heavy section thicknesses of hydraulic components for long wear life.
The dynamic seal feature provides for leak-free reliable operation without the requirement of seal water such as required by packing glands or mechanical seals. This means there is no product dilution and, without rubbing contact in the seal area, the Model HD pump can be run dry.
The Model HD pump offers easy inspection and change-out of key hydraulic components without disturbing the suction and discharge pipes.
This model is a proven performer in difficult applications containing solids and applications with upset conditions such as cavitation and momentary dry running, which are commonly found in loading/off loading applications.

The simplest type of centrifugal pump is the single stage machine that consists fundamentally of a rotating element, called an impeller, and a casing. Liquid is led to the eye or center of the impeller and is set into rotation by the impeller vanes. By virtue of centrifugal force the liquid is thrown from the rim or periphery of the impeller with a considerable velocity and pressure. The casing, which closely surrounds the impeller, has a volute shaped passage of increasing area, which collects the liquid leaving the impeller, and converts a portion of its velocity energy into additional pressure energy. This casing passage leads to the discharge nozzle of the pump where it is forced into the discharge piping.

Horizontal single stage centrifugal pumps with over hung impeller and axial suction, constructed using the "Back pull-out system" .
The pumps function by making use of the induced vortex principle: the impeller, which is positioned further back than the pump body, because of its particular shape induces a vortex in the conveyed liquid which expands in the body creating the pump discharge head.
Advantages
- The open impeller, which is positioned further back, with wide inter-vane passages makes it possible to convey, without any danger of blockages, dirty or viscous liquids, liquids containing particles in suspension or with fibrous impurities, chemically inert or aggressive liquids and those with dissolved air and solutions with crystals in suspension
- High performance levels
- Reliability
- Compactness
Fields of application
Because of their operating characteristics , the RKN and RKC pumps are particularly suited for use in the following plants:
- The paper and chemical wood pulp industries
- The sugar industry
- The farm-food industry
- The textile industry
- Waste water and sewage treatment plants
- The construction sector
- The chemical and petrochemical industry
- The pharmaceutical industry
- Thermo-electric power stations

The pumps are suitable to transfer liquids containing impurities measuring up to 2-3 mm. The hydraulic components, namely the impeller in brass and the scroll in cast iron allow the pumps to be used with water, emulsions, oily substances and liquids in general with a maximum viscosity of 3°Engler (21 CST) and a maximum temperature of 90°C. They are usually used in cases where there is no space at the top of the tank. They should be installed on the side of the tank to allow the liquid to enter straight into the
suction mouth (see Figure).
