Although generally with increased case hardening depth of round steel link chains the breaking strength decreases, RUD chains combine a very high wear resistance with extraordinary high strenth and toughness. These characteristics permit safe operation, e.g. of a high capacity bucket elevator.
As strength and relation of mechanical and and tribological demand on a chain are dependant on the installation where the chain is used. RUD offers chains and components in Special qualities in differing combinations of wear resistance and breaking strength, to cater for all requirements.

Mining system for underground coal mining
The RUD-KBP longwall system is carefully designed for the most effective combination of chains, drive wheels, flight bars and connectors to achieve maximum service life. This longwall mining system results in precisely callibrated continiuous chain loops for AFC's. Mining components for underground coal mining such as chains, wheels, connectors and scrapers are used without surface hardening but heat treated to very high tensile strength.
A further feature is the use of chains and the RUD Dominator flat connector in combination with special design drive wheels for coal ploughs.

Ramsey Silent Chain transmits power efficiently, smoothly, and quietly at speeds and loads that exceed the capacity of other chains and belts. Power capacity ranges from a fraction of a horsepower to over 2,000 horsepower, with speeds exceeding 7,000 feet per minute. Product lines include economical ANSI Standard chains, high performance chains, as well as replacement chains for other manufacturers’ products.

The LinearChain is a special kind of chain which, unlike the conventional mechanism, becomes rigid when operated under thrust load, but can still be looped and driven by a conventional sprocket wheel. The LinearChain can realize thrust forces up to 35 kN.
The classic power transmission system involving a continuous chain with at least two sprocket wheels and a tensioning element is replaced by an "open-ended" chain with two free ends. The drive can be located wherever it is most convenient.
The chains are given their push force characteristics by incorporating specially shaped side links that engage and support each other with very little axial play.

Teleflex Morse coated helical cables and our competitor’s flocked cables were exposed to 240
hours of salt spray testing per ASTM B117. The results showed some red rust at the ends of the
Teleflex Morse cables and very small traces where the gear tooth broke through the plastic coating
after cycle testing. The flocked cables showed severe red rust throughout its length

OIL FIELD CHAINS

•Oil field roller chains are subject
to particularly severe operating
conditions. Regina Oil Field PD
chain design and manufacturing
process is such that these chains
can withstand shock loads and
rough drive conditions.
•These chains provide a highly ef-
ficient way of transmitting power.
No large radial loads, thrusts or
bearing pressures are generated
thus the entire drive system (ma-
chine frames, bearings) may be
smaller and less costly. They pro-

Ramsey has recently developed a new take out arm drive solution that virtually eliminates the production downtime caused by belt breakage. By replacing heat sensitive belts with field tested, Ramsey RPV silent chain, take out arm life is greatly improved and maintenance is dramatically reduced. Ramsey now offers take out arm assemblies that completely replace units from most other manufacturers. Chain-guide: EP 1000 (PE-UHMW) green is a thermoplastic material with a very high molecular weight, whose main features are:
- a good wear resistance
- a low coefficient of friction
- a very low permeability
- an excellent resistance to the chemical agents
- a low unit weight
- an application temperature between -50°C/+ 70 °C
Beyond the EP 1000, we propose also other type of EP who can be used, on request,
for special applications: EP 1000 black (same characteristics as the green); EP 1000 naturalness
(same mechanical characteristics as the green, standards FDA); Anti-static EP 1000 black; EP 1000 charged
oil...
