Nickel-Plated Chain
Diamond Chain produces a full line of Nickel-Plated roller chains for a variety of uses in environments where the chains are exposed to moisture. Common uses include applications exposed to the weather, high humidity or those on machines that are frequently washed down with water. Diamond Nickel-Plated chain is different from many rust-resistant chains, because Diamond electroless nickel plates all of the components before assembly, virtually eliminating the possibility of stress-corrosion cracking. Pre-assembly plating also ensures all components are plated, which prevents internal rust from seeping out and causing contamination.

These chains are built in accordance with ANSI B29.24 and are dimensionally identical to Standard Series Drive chains, but also incorporate pins produced from medium carbon alloy steel, through-hardened, to give the chains higher working load capacity and additional resistance to fatigue.
Additionally, these chains are produced with solid rollers for increased performance when loading is high, but speeds are slow. Users of these chains should be aware that wear life may be slightly reduced due to the material and heat treatment of the chain pins.

Grade 80 alloy chain slings are often selected when operating under high temperature or rigged conditions that would abrade or destroy other types of slings. They are flexible, durable, long lasting, ductile, easy to inspect, collapsible for convenient storage, and will adhere securely to the contours of a load. The most advantageous feature of a chain sling is its ability to be repaired/ Nearly any damaged component discovered during an inspection can be repaired and restores to useful condition.
Load Estimation
In multi-leg slings, the angle between the legs is critical. The actual tension on each leg increases when the angle between the legs increases as shown in the diagram opposite. For this reason all general purpose chain slings are given a rating based upon use at 900 inc angle. The included angle between the legs should never exceed 1200.

Leaf Chain, commonly known as "Balance Chain", is the most simple of steel chains, consisting only of link plates and pins. This chain is subject to ANSI standard, and suitable for hanging, balancing, or motion transmitting applications. Plates are connected by pins and hold the tension loaded onto the chain. Pins are to resist the shear force from tension loading applied by the link plates and to withstand abrasion from the middle plate holes when the chain articulates.

Contrary to popular belief, tensile strength is not the only parameter used to judge a palm oil mill chain. In fact it is NOT even the most important parameter. A more important feature, called WEAR RESISTANCE is more critical when a palm oil mill chain is to be selected.
WHY?
Because safety factor has been taken into consideration at design stage and when a chain is selected, it means that the tensile strength of the chain meets that of the design value. So there is no necessity to use a chain with much higher tensile strength than the design value.
On the other hand, the understanding of WEAR RESISTANCE is more complex. First of all, it does not have a unit of measurement (such as KN, kgf or lbf in tensile strength). The measurement is simply chain elongation measured in terms of percentage of elongation (amount of elongation to the original chain length expressed in percentage). So the smaller percentage means a better chain used in the same period of time. Generally, a conveyor chain needs replacement when it reaches 2 % elongation. The most important measurement is therefore how long before a chain reaches its life span of 2 % elongation.

THIELE produces round link chains for the mining industry in rated sizes of 14 up to currently 42 mm according to DIN 22252.
Our development of calibration for long chain strands at the beginning of the seventies made the use of the general twin inboard chains possible. For even higher precision we use modern, computer supported calibration processes.

1. Problem/Initial situation
Chains in corrosive media have to possess high fatigue and wear resistance. Chains made of standard steels corrode quickly whilst stainless steels made of V2-A steel do not withstand these stresses. Nickel-plated or galvanised chains only offer limited corrosion-proofing because the coating is destroyed by abrasion.

13 years after the beginning of the successful VIP Grade 100, RUD is creating the next level of innovation in chain technology. RUD is the first manufacturer worldwide who is able and allowed to produce round steel chains in Grade 120. Compared with the common Grade 80, the new Grade has a breaking force which is up to 60 % higher. When lifting, the WLL (working load limit) is up to 60 % higher and the reduction of weight is up to 30 % less.
