Hardinge Swiss-type Collets are ground to precise size and TIR to meet precision machining requirements with a standard accuracy that rivals the industry! Every collet and guide bushing is inspected on a Hardinge Super-Precision (.000015" TIR) headstock before reaching the stockroom.
Hardinge manufactures to Swiss quality for all brands of Swiss-style machines and cam-operated lathes. Extended-Nose Collets feature added nose length, flat or tapered, for doing pick-off work or to compensate for tooling interference. An Emergency Collet can be machined to the desired bore size. Emergencies are also available in extended-nose for added nose length.
Hardinge round Swiss Guide Bushings are carbide-lined to keep the stock clean and unmarked. Specials are available in hardened steel, Meehanite lining, angular & zig-zag slotted and extruded shapes. TOOL AND MATERIAL CLAMPING SYSTEMS
Description of tool holders and tool carriers
Tool holders are mainly clamps and expandable dollies and also derivatives of clamps.
Tool-carrier ranges are manufactured to meet ISO and HSK standards as well as Schaublin’s standards which have often become the standards for the world. We also produce cylindrical tool-carriers, Morse tapers and specific adaptations of particular machines or applications.
Schaublin also develops, on request, special applications that require clamping abilities tailored to the customer’s requirements.
Operation and uses
Clamps are used to grip the material, parts in rotation and counter-rotation or tool shanks. These clamps are of pull or thrust type where the force on the taper closes the clamp onto the part to be gripped.
Clamps are generally steel, sometimes brass or with inserts of other materials.
