Description

With the CT contactor series Schaltbau is introducing a new and innovative contactor concept to the market: power contactors in a completely new style and design, specially developed for the sophisticated requirements of the railway industry. The outstanding technical feature of this new product is the innovative combination of electromagnetic and permanent-magnetic blowout technology for electric arc control. The successful combination of these two principles greatly improves both switching functionality and reliability and forms a practical and economically impressive device concept.
The innovative core of the new CT series is the electric arc control technology: in contrast to contactor concepts purely based on electromagnetic blowout, the arcs created at the moment of switching off are ignited in powerful permanent-magnetic blowout fields. Thus the dwell periods in the contact zones are limited to an absolute minimum. This leads to a significant reduction in arc-related burn-up when switching off. The lower degree of wear on the contacts makes it possible to greatly increase maintenance intervals.
The arcs blown out of the contact zones act as wear-free switches in the next phase: the skipping to adjacent arc modulators activates the blowout coils, making switching-off procedures independent of the direction of the current from that moment onwards. In the final phase the arcs pass through an arc chute, are stretched across the divergently arranged modulators and then effectively extinguished in a ceramic chamber. The special design of the extinguishing process reduces the discharge of ionised gases from the arc chute.

* Residual current devices RCB-2 are used as protection of energized parts in a circuit against indirect touching. It is a protection against direct touching, against residual voltage on grounded parts which apear when there is a fault in eletrical installation and for prostection against direct contact with energized parts in case IΔN ≥ 30 mA.

The CVB Series vacuum circuit breaker is the main electrical switch and protection device of AC locomotives and electric multiple units. Mode of operation: The energy required to switch on the CVB is stored by a spring. It takes only a small pulse energy to unlock the main spring release latch and set free the stored energy. As soon as the supply voltage is applied, the spring gets recharged in less than 10 s. When no control voltage is being applied, the vacuum circuit breaker is in switched off position and the spring remains charged and ready for the next switching operation.

The Bulletin 1489 line is listed for branch circuit applications in the United States and Canada and approved as a miniature circuit breaker for IEC applications.
Designed to meet North American and IEC standards the 1489 product line provides a variety of configurations with current ranges of 0.5 A to 40 A and voltage ranges of 240V AC and 480Y/277V AC. The 1489 circuit breakers also have a DC rating: 1-pole 48V DC and 2-pole 96V DC series. This versatility can reduce engineering costs, save time for OEMs, panel builders and end users and can help meet safety standards.
In North America, the Bulletin 1489 meets UL 489 and CSA 22.2 No. 5.1 standards for branch circuit protection as well as IEC 60 947-2 requirements for miniature circuit breakers used in international industrial applications. To address the needs of equipment protection that are installed in electrical control panels, the new device helps with the equipment protection circuit formally only associated with UL 1077. REC2 is a self-reclosing system that uses consecutive time sequences, with an additional insulation control capacity, so that it does not reclose the unit until the problem has been solved. Therefore, it maintains the highest continuity of the electrical service under the maximum safety levels, with the minimum number of reclosures needed when the electrical installation requires so. Miniature circuit breakers ETIMAT DC are used for protection of conductors in direct current
