Get More for Less in E-Stop Braking — By Breaking from Convention
# 28 Torque Ranges
# Three Frame Sizes
# 6 Disc Configurations
High Torque, Low inertia Engineering
Innovators at low inertia brake engineering, Force Control Industries, Inc. reduces size and mass to deliver more of what you need from an E-Stop brake - fast acting response - while paring away what you don't want.
Compact, Action Packed Design
Highly compact, space efficient designs, Force Control Industries, Inc. E-Stop Brakes feature a small diameter, multi-stack brake stack. This minimizes cyclic inertia of the brake itself for faster stopping, while multiplying braking surfaces. The brake stacks are fitted with unique dry friction facing material rated for heavy duty performance. Exceptionally durable, the material provides a high-coefficient of friction for high stopping torque in a small package.
Purpose Built Design
Unlike general purpose brakes adapted for E-Stop applications, our purpose built design doesn't need to be large and heavy to dissipate high heat loads, because it isn't subjected to frequent braking cycles. You only need one stop per episode - but then with the fastest possible response time.
So, we designed our E-Stop Brake with small diameter, multiple discs for high braking torque with low inertia. It's the same formula we have applied for years in our high performance oil shear brakes.
Multiple springs provide fast response and balanced braking torque, plus enhanced safety factor in event of a broken spring.

Simple to be intalled and compact; the Airing radial units are engaged by an air tube and can be used as drum brakes (in stopping and holding applications) or clutches (to connect two shafts directly or through a pulley).
Maximum torque from 40 to 4 000 Nm.
The high thickness friction pad and the reliable air tube ensure high performances and low maintenance cost.
|
|
The DC and DCV constricting drum clutches and brakes are found all throughout industry in general power transmission duties.
Constructed using an integral rim and tube actuator, the DC has low inertia and high misalignment capacity, offering a simple solution to less arduous clutch and brake requirements.
A full range of options is available: Dual flanges for back to back mounting giving double torque capacity. Multiple air inlets for increased response speed. Split construction to avoid removal of the shafts on in-line drives. And wether you require just the friction shoe or mounting pins, or a complete actuator and rim assembly, all are backed by the Wichita name for service and reliability

Airflex CB element assemblies are used as both clutches and brakes in general power transmission service. The primary feature of the CB design and construction is the Airflex torsional resilient principle made possible by the transmission of power through the side walls of the flexible neoprene and cord actuating tube. This flexibility also permits minor shaft misalignment.
|
|
|
Airflex E elements are primarily used as slip clutches or tension brakes; however, they can also be used for general power transmission service. Torque is transmitted from the friction shoes to the element housing through torque bars. Engagement occurs when air expands the actuating tube forcing the friction shoes against the inside diameter of the drum. Release springs assist shoe disengagement and counteracts centrifugal force.
|
|
|
Airflex VE elements were specially designed for greater heat dissipation capacity in an expanding type element. Available in a limited number of sizes, they offer all of the type E features.
|
|
|
Airflex EB element assemblies are used in both clutch and brake service with light starting loads. The EB is similar in design to the CB except that it is an expanding type unit.
|
|
|
Airflex ER couplings are expanding units with neoprene facing. As such, they combine the advantages of a flexible and disconnect coupling. Engagement of the element should occur when there is no speed differential between driving and driven shaft.

Active without pressure – flat design:
The Clamping Element for torque take-up with spring-loaded energy storage TP
The TP series is a pneumatic clamping element for torque motors or for rotational axes.
It works with a newly developed spring-loaded energy storage system.
Torque take-up occurs inside the TP which excludes wear on the driven shaft.
TP achieves high holding torques at a pneumatic opening pressure of >4 bar.
Due to high rigidity, positioning accuracy is exact in use.
The zero maintenance TP is suitable for shaft diameters of
Ø50 to Ø320 mm.
It is characterised by easy assembly and a flat design.

Active without pressure:
The Clamping and Braking Element including spring-loaded energy storage MB
The MB series is based on a dual-effective wedge slide gear with spring-loaded energy storage for clamping and braking without pressure.
As a specific feature it has three pistons connected in a line.
This arrangement allows use of a stronger spring at 4.5 bar than the BW series does. The stronger spring-loaded storage permits holding forces up to 3,800 N.
The MB series is designed for braking on linear guides.
Because of the material combination of the linear guide/contact section, the linear guide won't be damaged by the contact section.

Active without pressure - compact and powerful:
The Clamping and Braking Element with spring-loaded energy storage UB.
The UB series combines the technology of our BW, TK and MB series. The rigid housing and central position of the wedge slide gear achieve very high supporting forces. The mounting hole template enables the BW, TK and MB series to be substituted. The UB series is based on a dual-effective wedge slide gear with spring-loaded energy storage for clamping and braking without pressure.
This arrangement of three pistons connected in a line allows use of a stronger spring at 5.5bar.
The stronger spring-loaded storage permits holding forces up to 9,000 N. Positive fit contact sections mounted within a strong casing guarantee high axial and horizontal rigidity.
The UB series is designed for braking on linear guides. Because of the material combination of the linear guide/contact section, the linear guide won't be damaged by the contact section.
In order to exclude damage from contamination with chips (chips between contact section and linear guide), the elements can be fitted with original seals (seal kit) from the respective linear guide manufacturer and longitudinal seals as accessories.
When used in harsh work environments or with cooling liquid, the seal kit should be used as well.

The clamping elements react in the shortest possible response time by the patented pneumatic pre-loading of the system of the spring plates in the diaphragm.
These safety systems are permanently operational for the maximum machine protection.
