Your suggestions for improvement:
A CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor uses a particular technology for recording images.
ApplicationsThe rapid operation of CMOS sensors make them ideal for use in high-speed cameras.
TechnologiesEach of the sensor's pixels is divided into photon-collection and signal-conversion areas. This reduces the light-sensitive surface compared to a CCD (charge-coupled device) sensor. In contrast, its reduced circuitry and simplified charge-transfer electronics gives it faster image recording abilities.
How to chooseCMOS sensors are preferred where rapid image recording and low power consumption are important. They are also less expensive than CCD sensors.
- High signal-to-noise ratio
- High speed and image quality
- Low power consumption
- Inexpensive
- Smaller dynamic range
