With over 3000 air/oil separator designs for compressors, Mikropor is one of the leading air/oil separator manufacturers in the world today.
The primary purpose of Mikropor air/oil separators in rotary screw and vane type air compressors is to separate oil from compressed air. Mikropor separators trap oil by allowing it to coalesce and drain down to a sump - while allowing compressed air to pass through. From the sump, oil will be removed by a scavenge line of some type and returned to the reservoir to be recompressed in a continuous cycle.
Mikropor separators are constructed of a depth loading media and have excellent oil removal capabilities that provide vital air/oil separation required in high-performing compressor systems. Mikropor separators have an oil removal rating of 1-2 ppm (parts per million) - so the oil loss in a compressor working with Mikropor air/oil separators is negligible.
Mikropor separators feature a unique Helix Tube Construction that provides added strength and collapse resistance.
In addition, some special Mikropor separators use fluted - not punched or perforated - steel. The flutes provide a diagonal air/oil flow and improve the coalescing performance of Mikropor separators over competitive products. This fluted steel design unique to Mikropor.

Coalescer units
These can be vertical or horizontal vessels with connection sizes up to 48" (1200 mm) NB using the properties of droplet attraction, impingement and coalescence to remove liquid droplets from fluidic streams.
Coalescers are available to separate water and condensates from gaseous hydrocarbons such as natural gas and fuel gas, as well as from ammonia and nitrogen and for both onshore and offshore activities. Also available are coalescers and separators to remove water from liquid hydrocarbons such as diesel, fuel oil, kerosene, some crude fractions.
In all cases the coalescers can be supplied complete with integral filter packs to provide long term in-service life.
Specialist coalescers are available for the separation of difficult to separate duties or where a corrosive main phase fluid is present.

|
The coalescer has been especially designed to remove free water from hydraulic circuits. Costeffective and simple in design, it functions without absorption material: special filter material in special configuration retains the small water droplets floating in the medium and removes them.

The ELF Coalescer is a simple, virtually maintenance-free system for separating oil from steam condensate. Utilizing a bed of oleophilic ion exchange resins, the ELF Coalescer can be used in petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants and related industries as well as treating ballast water, oil well field produced water and other oily waste waters.

PhaseSep® FR1 Liquid/Liquid Coalescer
Pall's PhaseSep® FR1 Series liquid / liquid coalescer is designed to directly retrofit Facet International coalescer vessels designed to hold tie-rod mount style liquid / liquid coalescers.
The Pall PhaseSep FR1 system is a multiple stage unit starting with preconditioning of the fluid with a Pall particulate filter followed by the PhaseSep FR1 coalescer. The preconditioning filter removes particulate matter to prolong the service life of the PhaseSep FR1 coalescer and initiates coalescence of the dispersed phase.
Pall preconditioning particulate filters are available in numerous configurations that can fit directly into your current prefilter housing. If
you do not have a prefilter installed,a system can be provided by Pall.
The PhaseSep FR1 Series coalescer utilizes the same proprietary PhaseSep medium that Pall employs when it sells new liquid / liquid coalescer systems. The FR1 series product allows customers to adopt Pall coalescer technology without the need to purchase new capital equipment.

‘Becone’ Knitted Mesh Coalescers
The 'Becoil' Demisting Unit is a high efficiency, low loss device for removing liquid particles in excess of 5 microns. To further the collection efficiency below 5 microns, the 'Becone' Coalescer was developed.
The unit is a pad fabricated from a composite fabric consisting partly of monofilaments and partly of a staple fiber yarn exhibiting along its length the ends of the staple fibers composing it. These fibers are much smaller in diameter than either the yarn into which they are spun or the monofilaments - consequently forming a more efficient filter.
The multitude of fibrous ends presented to the gas flow reduces the streamline effect, trapping the fine droplets within the coalescer, and the coarse droplets so formed are re-entrained in the gas stream leaving the coalescer. These larger droplets are than easily removed by a conventional 'Becoil' Demisting Unit.
The combined 'Becone' and 'Becoil' installation increases collection efficiency to 98% in the 2-5 micron range and these results have been substantiated in many installations.
Pressure loss is increased but not dramatically since the 'Becone' Coalescer still has a considerable free volume, even allowing for the introduction of fibrous yarn.
