Color is one of the essential features of a product that has to be “just right“.
A reliable method of checking and controlling the color of a
product is needed. But when is a color “just right“ and who is the judge? Ultimately, it is the consumer or product user who passes judgment on the quality of a color.
Human color perception determines whether the color is right or not. Given this fact, product manufacturers have been eager to find a way to accurately simulate the “visual impression“ of the human eye in industrial color control.
The A. KRÜSS Optronic perceptive color sensor CS8 “recognizes“
color just like humans do, which means it possesses the same spectral sensitivity.
Thus the sensor “perceives“ different shades of color in the same manner as the human eye. This feature is what sets the KCS8 apart from other color sensor systems, as the KCS8 can mimic the human eye when determining the right color.

SPECTRO-3 Series - Color Sensors "True Color"
Human vision and recognition - but a thousand times faster
With the SPECTRO-3 series there now is a family of color sensors that has been specifically designed for "true-color" detection ("human color reception") and high switching frequency. The sensors can be operated both in AC and in DC mode, with integrated or external light source. With the included SPECTRO3-Scope software illumination can also be turned off with a simple mouse-click, which then also allows the color and brightness inspection of self-luminous objects such as LEDs, automobile tail lights, halogen lamps, or fluorescent lamps. Up to 31 colors can be provided through the 5 digital outputs, the maximum switching frequency is 30 kHz.
Apart from a super-bright white-light source, a high-performance UV light source also is available, which allows a color and brightness differentiation of fluorescent colors without any problems. Different optical frontends make it possible to implement operating distances of almost 0 mm up to 500 mm, with detection areas of Ø 0.5 mm to approx. Ø 100 mm. The use of an optical fibre version allows applications in Ex areas.
In combination with a reflected-light optical fiber and a neutral-absorber attachment unit the SPECTRO-3-FIO (version for use with fiber optics) makes it possible to perform a color inspection of different self-luminous objects.

SPECTRO-3-UV Series - Luminescence color sensors
High-speed color detection of fluorescent objects
In addition to brightness differentiation, the luminescence color sensors of the SPECTRO-3-UV series also perform color differentiation. Teaching of the fluorescent objects can be performed either with the SPECTRO3-Scope software, with the TEACH button that is integrated at the sensor, or through digital input INØ. The 40 kHz scanning frequency and the 30 kHz switching frequency also guarantee a reliable detection and recognition of fast-moving fluorescent marks.

FT 50C – A new ray of light in colour detection
With the FT 50 C colour sensor, SensoPart has set another milestone in the technical development of colour sensor technology: the first colour sensor with only one light source in the small standard size, which guarantees the precise detection of objects in the whole working area. And which shows many other technical features that make it capable of a top performance as a standard. The exceptional quality of the FT 50 C is its operational principle with only one light source. The LED emits visible white light. At a large distance range, objects are detected by a patented optical system independently of their shape. The colour to be detected is learned simply by teach-in and the FT 50 C is at once ready for use. It compares the target object with the taught-in reference colour and if they match, it sets one of the three available switching outputs.
Field-proven applications
The FT 50 colour sensor simplifies and speeds up sorting and control tasks within a broad spectrum of automated working processes. Whether it is the distinction of the degrees of browning of cookies in the food industry, the positioning of register marks on packings in the pharmaceutic industry or any other detection task: the FT 50 C is the right sensor whenever all the others have had enough of it.
FT 50 C- 3 Colour sensor

Color is one of the last qualities still being checked by human eyes in most applications. Color sensors such as the CS24D are changing this. Electronic color sensors are increasingly being used in automated applications to reduce automation errors and improve quality at production line speeds.
Delta's color sensors and sorters are based on our patented pulsed LED technology and offer the benefits of rugged, long-life, solid-state lighting with a wide range of colors from blue to near-infrared.
While most color sensors use a single white LED and filtered detectors, Delta's color sensors are different. They use multiple ultra-high intensity LEDs for smooth, bright lighting and unfiltered large-area precision photodiodes for better signal-to-noise ratio. And the resulting large sensing areas provide superior performance on textured materials.
Be confident the color you want is traveling down your production line. Delta's color sensors provide superior performance in a wide variety of applications, even with textured and other difficult materials.

The color sensors enable shades of color and shades of gray which lie close to one another to be differentiated and among other things, are suitable for monitoring the shade color in connection with installed parts, for checking the color of lacquered components or for filtering out faulty parts and/or for sorting materials on the basis of color markings. The parameterization of the color sensors takes place using the RS232 in a Windows environment, wherein 31 colors can be tought-in and stored via a PC, SPS or diffuse reflection sensors. With a view to respective applications, different versions are available.
As such, devices with diffuse illumination units are suited for applications where glare effects on surfaces have to be reduced. In turn, variants with focused light sources are recommended for matt and dark surfaces. In addition, the special sensors can be fitted with a polarizing filter for inspecting high-gloss surfaces or for transmitted light applications used to differentiate color shades in panes of glass. Even special color detectors which simulate the sensitivity of the human eye are available. Apart from the special color detectors, a light source (D65) is used here which is adapted to the daylight. With this, it is possible to suppress the metamerism effect (known from the field of optics, as generating the same color impression amongst different spectra of an illuminant to the human eye). These so-called ‘true color’ systems have been specially designed, in order to securely differentiate similar shades of color. So-called ‘spotlight sensors’ can be employed in these type of applications if a small light spot is necessary for checking components.

Integrated Color LTV Sensors : The integrated color LTV sensors combine a photodiode, color filter, and transimpedance amplifier on a single die. The output is then fed to an ADC for digital processing. TAOS’ solution requires fewer components, saves board space and reduces assembly cost over a discrete photodiode approach. TAOS’ solution also simplifies design and board layout because sensitive analog circuitry is integrated on-chip, which also improves the noise immunity. The Color LTV devices are ideal for applications such as colorimetry, printing process control, display color correction, and selectively ambient light detection or rejection.

The CA-210 LCD Color Analyzer is Konica Minolta's "next generation" color analyzer designed to measure color luminance, gamma characteristic and flicker on various types of Flat Panel Displays including LCD and EL. Faster than previous generation analyzers, the CA-210's measurement of luminance and chromaticity at up to 20 times/second makes it ideal in high production environments. (AND it can simultaneously measure up to five points on the screen. ) The CA-210's special optical design limits acceptance angle to within ± 2.5 degrees, thus eliminating the influence of the LCD's viewing angle dependency. Matrix calibration allows for high measurement of LCD displays that provide colors through additive mixing of three monochrome colors (R,G,B). A new low luminance capability enables measurements as low as 0.1cd/m2
