The CSN14 family of Converter Switches, with a 10Mb Fibre port built-in covers the full range of application environments with regular (office), hardened (factory floor), and Premium-rated (outdoor) versions.
The CSN14 regular-package units are for office and indoor wiring closet environments. An external AC power supply for either North America (-d, 115vac 60Hz) or international (-i, 230vac, 50Hz) is included. The ambient temperature rating is 0º to 40ºC. It is convection cooled. Metal mounting clips are included, and rack-mount tray options are available.
The CSN14 Hardened units are for factory floor applications. It resists dust, sirt, moisture, smoke and insects. Mounting options include stand-alone panel mounting, DIN-rail, or rack-mount tray.
The CSN14 Premium-rated units are for temperature uncontrolled applications. In addition to a Premium-rated AC power option and jack, terminals for internal DC power choices at 8 to 15V, 24V or -48V DC are included. Mounting options include stand-alone panel-mounting, DIN-rail, or rack-mount tray.

In the 1990’s Fiberguide developed 2-dimensional arrays of single mode fibers to meet extraordinarily demanding specifications of Lucent Technologies’ Bell Laboratories. They needed the centerlines of 361 fibers in a 19 x 19
array to be positioned to an absolute accuracy of ± 2.0 microns over the entire array. This required a positioning accuracy beyond that possible with conventional machining methods. The solution developed and patented by the technical staff at Fiberguide is to use an alignment plate with holes
in it to guide the fibers into position. The plate is made from a wafer of silicon and the position of each hole is established by the same photolithographic and etching methods that are used to make electronic integrated circuits. |

Description
The Optical switch 1x8 is a compact and low-cost device which provides easy setup and extension of the measurement network. The optical switch has 1 input channel and 8 output channels. The switch is software controlled using RS 232 connection and does not require any other external power supply.
The Optical switch 1X8 product family was specifically designed to meet the diverse needs and challenging requirements of the fibre optic sensor community. The speed, low loss budget and repeatability make it excellent for optical sensing applications.
