A variety of casings can be offered for piezosystem jena switches. Depending on customer requirements, plug-in casings are available as well as screw slot casings and special custom size rack mount casings.
The casing not only protects the mounted fiber, it’s also the basis for easy integration of this part into your existing system.
Optical Interface
All fiber switches come standard with 1m output optical fibers and assembled connectors per customer request. Also, switches with plug in connectors (bulk head) are available. In this case, the customer can select his socket type. In each case, the customer is free to select an additional outside cable length according to his requirements.
PC connection
The switches can be controlled by TTL signal (for type 1x1 up to 1x2 channel configurations) and BCD Code (via parallel port) for 1x3 up to 1x81 channel configurations. Controlling Demo-Software comes with every switch.
Power Supply
The operating voltage for the switch configuration 1x1 and 1x2 is 7-12 V DC or 7-9 V AC. The multiplexer with a channel configuration of 1x3 up to 1x81 needs 5V DC.
piezosystem jena offers wall power supply modules for each switch as an option.

The ASM series (Advanced Signal Multi-scanner) offer a great time-saving automatic solution to calibrate multiple temperature sensors at the same time. The ASM series is an eight channel scanner controlled by JOFRACAL software on a PC. Up to 3 ASM units can be stacked to calibrate up to 24 sensors at the same time. It can handle signals from 2-, 3- and 4 wire RTD’s, TC’s, transmitters, thermisters, temperature switches and voltage.

The optical fiber switches from LEONI are based on a patented unique microoptical/ micromechanical solution. Due to a unique combination of refractive microoptical components and robust, industrial proven actuators LEONI´s switches are characterized by excellent optical parameters and short switching time. For the user this guaranties excellent parameters, high flexibility and long term stability. The switches are available for several broad spectral regions, starting from the whole visible and covering the telecom infrared spectrum. They can be built with various fiber types, PM fibers for the eol series included.

Piezoelectric actuators can be used to move microoptical components, such as optical fibers and microprisms of these components. This application is not only for laboratory adjustment of these components, but also for the creation of special products in the field of optical communication, optical
data storage and metrology.
On the base of the combination of piezoelectric actuators with different microoptical components piezosystem jena has already developed a broad spectrum of systems for different applications:

Piezoelectrically driven switches and modulators have several inherent advantages compared to other electromechanically driven systems:
High switching speed - down to submillisecond region
Compactness and stability, low power consumption
Excellent optical parameters
The best way for the switching optical fibers is the direct movement of the optical fibers with respect to each other. Piezoelectric actuators are ideal candidates for this purpose due to their typical movement ranges and actuation speed. In order to exclude the influences of hysteresis and creep on the accuracy of such a switch, the actuator end positions can be fixed by special stopping configurations.
In the case of multimode fibers, the required accuracy (10 microns or more depending on the fiber core diameter) can be achieved by different approaches of precision engineering. For singlemode fibers, however, this approach is not very appropriate.

Our scope of services regarding electronic systems and communication components for fiber optic technology ranges from RS232, RS422 and RS485 to TTY fiber optic converters. Apart from that, our d-light systems offer solutions for the connection of Profibus, Profibus redundant and Modbus-Plus. Our series e-light and DragonLine consist of both managed and unmanaged Industrial Ethernet switches, partly with PoE (Power over Ethernet) functionality. With DragonLine we cover numerous applications concerning Ethernet and Gigabit-Ethernet. The systems of our io-light series transmit switch, control and analogue signals via fiber optics. Furthermore, we offer optical amplifiers and CAN fiber optic converters. Among that, we also offer compact splice boxes and hybrid splice boxes. POF, HCS and multimode or singlemode fiber optics are unsusceptible to electrical and magnetic interferences. The series e-light² EL100U2 are 8 port unmanaged Industrial Ethernet layer 2 switches with auto negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX.
The EL-100U2 series contains unmanaged 7/8 port switches for 10/100MBit/s optionally with up to eight RJ45-Ethernet-ports and up to three optical ports which work with POF, HCS, and multimode or singlemode fiber optics. Additional features are auto negotiation, MDX/MDIX and redundant power supply.
The ruggedness to electrical and magnetic interferences, the potential separation of transmitter and receiver as well as ranges up to 40km between two fiber optic systems are important performance features of the transmission with POF, HCS and multimode or singlemode fiber optics. LEDs and potential free contacts of a differential relay signalize defective states.

e-light2M is a 8 port switch that features ring function based on the Pathfinder Ring (P-Ring) with a recovery time of less than 300ms.
e-light2M is available with up to 4 flexibly configurable FX-ports and up to 6TX-ports. The Fast Ethernet switches with their industrial design are useable in a wide temperature range of -30°C to +75°C and are suitable for both DIN rail mounting and wall fastening.
