| The Ni1000SOT is a nickel thin film resistance temperature detector (RTD) that is suitble for use in contact temperature sensing. The characteristics of the temperature sensor comply with DIN 43760. The Ni1000SOT is manufactured by PVD-depositon on a silicon substrate. The thin film structure is covered by a passivation layer for environmental protection and enhanced stability. The nickel elements are mounted on lead frames and encapsulated in SOT23 packages. This technology allows the production of miniature, low cost, high precision temperature sensors. The Ni1000SOT sensor is qualified for the most demanding automotive applications (including exposure to hot oil) and is suitable for many more applications in harsh environments. |

Measurement Specialties offers high end temperature sensors through its recent acquisitions of BetaTHERM and YSI Temperature. Both companies specialize in negative temperature co-efficient (NTC) thermistors for precision temperature measurement in environments where there is a high cost of failure.
Thermistor-based temperature sensors exhibit a change in their electrical resistance in response to a change in ambient temperature conditions. They are highly-sensitive and have very reproducible resistance-versus-temperature properties. Thermistors can be further classified as either “Positive Temperature Co-efficient” (PTC thermistors) or “Negative Temperature Co-efficient” (NTC thermistors). Both PTC and NTC thermistors have distinct features and advantages that make them ideal for different end-use sensor applications. Whereas PTC thermistors demonstrate an increase in resistance when subjected to an increase in temperature, NTC thermistors demonstrate a decrease and are commonly used for more accurate temperature sensing. This accuracy makes them unique in their functionality in many applications compared to other temperature sensors/switches such as thermocouples or electromechanical thermostats, which they are steadily replacing.
NTC thermistors are available in a wide variety of configurations and protective coatings to suit almost any application. The particular features and advantages of NTC thermistors compared to other sensor types include:
Large temperature sensitivity and broad range of function
Available in many physical forms and not constrained by material types
Interchangeable devices eliminate need for individual sensor calibrations
Good electrical noise immunity
Easy to interface to electronic instrumentation
Can be customized to optimize thermal response requirements
NTC thermistors are the most versatile and cost-effective temperature sensors in terms of satisfying typical selection criteria and in their inherent advantages over other sensor types.

The MICRO III, with its small dimensions of only 4,7 x 8,8 x 2,5 cm, is the ideal gas detector for personal protection. The single gas detector with ATEX certification weighs only 75 g. It detects reliably oxygen, hydrogen or many toxic gases like hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, ozone, carbon monoxide, etc. The current gas concentration is shown on a large display. With a loud alarm of 95 dB and a changing frequency the small single gas detector is audible even in noisy environments. Simultaneously, two bright and alternately flashing LEDs indicate a gas alarm. Three alarm levels and the battery alarm provide comprehensive protection.
With a permanent operation of 24 hours a day a single AA battery powers this instrument for up to 9 months. The long-life smart sensors allow the change to other gases without any problems, since the detector recognizes the new sensor type. A high-performance pump (as per ATEX) for gas sampling can be easily attached, ensuring to detect gas hazards in confined areas.
Gases to be detected: O2, H2S, CO, NO, NH3, HCN, HCl, SO2, H2, C2H4O, SiH4, PH3, COCl2, NO2, Cl2, O3, ClO2.

The Remote Display Unit (RDU 40) is a robust display unit for outdoor use in hazardous areas. If the number of temperature elements per tank is 6 or less, the RDU 40 is the most cost effective solution for field display. In this case the temperature elements can be connected directly to the TankRadar Gauge (RTG) without using a Data Acquisition Unit (DAU).
The display functions are software controlled by the connected gauge. It is easy to work with via the 4-key display keyboard. Each screen view can display 7 text lines with 16 characters per line.
It displays calculated data such as level, average temperature, volume, signal strength etc. Data can be displayed in lists or as single values, with a choice for the operator to have a user defined view. |
