Overview
Moxa's new CP-602U-I CAN (Controller Area Network) interface board supports the Universal PCI interface. As a stand-alone CAN controller, the CP-602U-I is a cost-effective solution that provides two active CAN controllers with a DB9 connector on the same board. The CP-602U-I CAN interface board uses the NXP SJA1000 and transceiver PCA82C251, which provides the bus arbitration and error detection. The -40 to 85°C wide operating temperature (CP-602U-I-T only) and 2 KV isolation make the boards suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.
Features:
CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B supported
Two independent CAN communication ports
CAN transfer rate up to 1 Mbps
2 KV optical isolation protection
LED for transmit/receive status on each port
Optional 120 ohm terminal resistor for CAN bus network

In addition to use in cars and commercial vehicles as well as in mobile systems of all types (e.g. public transport vehicles, elevators, ships, trains, special-purpose vehicles, airplanes etc.), CAN is being used increasingly in industrial automation technology and in a large number of embedded systems in various fields of application - from coffee machines to kidney stone lithotripters. Based on the standardized higher protocols and profiles CANopen and DeviceNet, complete solutions for the implementation of distributed applications are available for system implementation.
In addition, standardized communication mechanisms, identifier assignment, network management functions and numerous device and application profiles enable interoperability and exchangeability of devices from different manufacturers. In addition to the implementation of very low-cost system solutions, CAN-based networks have a series of special features compared to other system solutions

Control architectures with I/O, PID control, acquisition and gateway modules
The Ascon’s deltadue DX and DY series of gateways, adapters and WebSCADA interface the PID control and acquisition modules with PLCs, PC based systems, SCADAs and Operator Panels to realize different architectures by connecting the modules to:
- A PLC or SCADA with MODBUS TCP protocol via an Ethernet network or the web.
- Any web browser for the configuration of HTML management pages and to MODBUS TCP SCADAs via an Ethernet network.
- A MODBUS TCP SCADA (via Ethernet network) and to a PLC (PROFIBUS DP or MODBUS RTU or DeviceNet) simultaneously.
- CANopen, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet networks.
- MODBUS RTU networks with different baud rate, parity and stop bits.
- Two masters, such as Operator Panels, SCADA, PACs, etc. simultaneously.
The DX also include the following Manager functions:
- Automatic learning and back up of the modules configuration data;
- Hot Swapping, automatic configuration and parameterisation of replaced modules;
- Offline configuration and parameterisation, the modules data are downloaded into the DX before they are mounted, when the modules are inserted into their housings, they are recognised, configured and parameters are downloaded;
- Diagnostic of the modules, the DX scans all the modules to verify if they are the correct ones and working properly.
The modules can work as independent units; no back planes or common modules are necessary. The DX is optional, it must be ordered only when the gateway or Manager functions are necessary.

OCS (Operator Control Station) is a robust, reliable control product that combines a traditional controller…programmed by any of the IEC 61131 programming languages…operator interface, I/O and networking into an integrated, all-in-one unit using a single software package - Cscape. The LX models have a fast 0.20mS/K typical scan rate, and a large memory capacity…supporting logic programs up to 128K logic and 32K of battery-backed registers
Using STN LCD technology, the LX models offer integrated, bright displays. The LX280 screen features eight shades of grey, while the LX300 supports 16 different colours. Both models provide far more visual readability than competing low-cost blue screen and STN colour LCDs. Plus, the LX280 and LX300 are compact, measuring 181mm wide x 139mm high and 45mm deep. This gives the added advantage of being a viable, low-cost solution for machines with small panel areas
-Single high performance processor, provides fast scan cycles. Note that scan cycle time is dependent on screen update priority which can be adjusted.
-320x240 ¼VGA 5.7" STN screen
-Five configurable function keys and touchscreen capability
-8 shades of grey or 16 colours
-Two serial ports plus optional CsCAN port.
-Supports SmartStack I/O using RCS or SmartStix I/O may be mounted up to 6000 ft (1500 meters) from the OCS
Fully compatible with Cscape 6.5 (or later) software that configures all control, I/O graphics and networking.

Key features
- Available as Starter kit
- Strain gauge, Pt-100 and potentiometric sensors
- CAN Interface
- 18 Bit A/D converter resolution
- Up to 5 Km cable
- Selectable bus-speed
- Daisy chain upto 60 devices
There is an increasing tendency to investigate the behaviour of large constructions under varying load conditions. Examples are: bridges, wind turbines, tower cranes, etc. Usually it is quite inconvenient to apply half- or full straingauge bridges onto such constructions, for which reason mostly single (1/4 bridge) gauges are utilized. This, however, usually implies cumbersome wiring to the inputs of the (remote) measuring amplifiers.
StrainBUSter has been developed to solve these problems by placing the measuring circuit in the direct vicinity of each point of measurement. Here all signal conditioning is done, after which all measured values are being transmitted via a CAN bus to one convenient central place, thus building one decentralized system. In this way, up to 120 measured values can be transmitted very reliably over longer distances.
Each StrainBUSter module has 2 separate input channels. The single straingauge, or the Pt100 sensor, is connected through a 3-wire connection, eliminating cable losses at the input side.

The Vehicle Bus Analyzer Speaks Your Language
The Vehicle Bus Analyzer is the first conventional oscilloscope to decode CAN serial data into Symbolic (application layer) text. Now, for the first time, an engineer has both the full range of CAN protocol stack information-symbolic, hex, and electrical signal-and the ability to view additional in-circuit electrical signals (sensors and actuators, voltage levels, transients, etc.) that influence the CAN bus. In addition, up to four different CAN buses can be decoded at one time. Standard and specialized oscilloscope tools can be used to validate and debug designs.
Eliminate the Barriers to Fast Debug
Direct symbolic decoding and triggering allows fast and intuitive understanding of events. Simply load your existing DBC database file into the oscilloscope (no re-entry of data is required); capture CAN message traffic; and all electrical (signal), protocol (hex), and symbolic (application) layer information is quickly displayed on the oscilloscope screen. Use standard oscilloscope and specializedVehicle Bus Analyzer tools to find rare events, automatically measure and statistically analyze event timing, and graph/plot information, including extracted CAN message data.
Unique Measurement Tools
The VBA can make many measurements not possible with other instruments. Aside from timing measurements, the VBA can also extract CAN data from a CAN message stream, graphically plot that data on the oscilloscope display, and compare it to other electrical signals. Here, information on the steering angle and steering angle rate of change is extracted from the CAN message acquisition, rescaled to decimal values, and plotted as a time-correlated "Track" on the VBA display.
