For machining the desired part, we choose the most favourable manufacturing method. The fastest way of getting blanks is the direct pressing of the granulated powder by a corresponding tool and sintering afterwards. An alternative for complicated or bigger parts is the two step shaping method. Details: maximum possible are blanks up to Ø 190mm or a length of 300mm.

T9000
To meet the continuously growing demands of modern tool concepts as to economic efficiency and productivity, Tungaloy designed the new T9000 series. The result of our intensive research and development is a modern cutting grade series, which stands for increased tool life at higher cutting speeds in machining operations of steel. Compared to traditional cutting materials, the new MT-CVD coated substrate has a unique design of each single coating layer. The patented new "Double-Bridge" coating technology stands for extremely increased adhesion of each single layer. Thus thicker coatings can be applied without weakening the adhesion between each single layer. These characteristics grant significantly increased wear resistance, thus allowing for higher cutting conditions.

ISCAR is introducing two new CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) grades:
the IB55, mainly for hardened steel and IB85 for cast iron and hardened steel. Different CBN grades can optimize the performance in various applications, depending on workpiece composition and properties as well as the applied machining conditions.
IB55: For semi-finishing and finishing of hardened steel, even under interrupted conditions. This new grade will replace the current IB65.
IB85: For machining grey cast iron and cast iron with
hardness >45 HRc and heat-resistant alloys. The new IB85 offers an alternative to the current IB90 for most of the applications.
Note: IB65 and IB80 will be phased out gradually.
Insert Geometries:
All new IB55 and IB85 inserts have a single-tipped working corner. On their cutting edge both grades have a T-land of 0.14 x 20°. The IB55 grade also has a honing of 0.010-0.015 mm.

Hard Turning
Nowadays, time consuming grinding processes are more and more replaced by hard turning operations. Various work piece profiles with smallest tolerances and different surface qualities can easily be machined without further grinding. Furthermore, dry machining is one positive side effect leading to reduction in production costs.
Tungaloy is a pioneer in the production and development of PCBN and ceramic cutting materials. Already since the early 60ies and 70ies these high performance cutting grades have been produced inhouse and successfully applied in various machining processes. Our know-how and state-of-the-art product research and development enable us to offer PCBN and ceramic cutting materials as complete service package to solve different machining problems. It is the combination of these two exceptional cutting materials which provides for highly economic machining and effective utilisation of both potentials in hard turning for continuous cutting up to heavily interrupted cutting.

GC4220
Sandvik Coromant’s new GC4220 grade promises 20-30% improvement in productivity against the current grade thanks to the latest developments in grade technology and an improved substrate and coating. Suitable for use in medium to rough milling at the elevated temperatures created by high speed milling or hard materials, grade GC4220 provides security and predictability to maximize productivity and optimize high metal removal rate. This GC4220 grade guarantees better security at higher speeds and higher feed rates than GC4020, good performance in unmanned production plus higher metal removal rate. The special strength of GC4220 lies in its resistance to crater wear and plastic deformation, common wear problems when running at high speeds and feeds. With its improved edge line strength and bulk toughness and its capacity to withstand increased cutting data, GC4220 is more predictable in dry milling, face and profile milling and ensures a good surface finish.
GC4230
New insert grade GC4230 from Sandvik Coromant is a highly versatile and all round performer, optimized for light to heavy milling of alloyed and unalloyed steels. Designed to meet the demands of modern machining, it is equally effective in both wet and dry conditions and at medium to high speeds. With improved properties providing maximum resistance to all wear types, GC4230 offers the confidence to increase cutting speed and metal removal rate, for a large boost to milling performance. Stressless coating technologies help to ensure this new grade brings improved edge line toughness far beyond standard CVD grades - for a trouble free machining experience in all applications.
